Each finger does have a different term, as well as the bones which make up each finger have different terms

Well, I know there is a term but I have seen medical reports that refer to the first digit, second digit, third digit and so on. I have no idea which side they count from, though. Try the Merck Manual, which is online somewhere, I think.

Counting of the digits start at the thumb. HTH!

The phalange is the term for bone part.
You have 3 phalanges (The 3 parts then bend!) in your index finger (pointer finger).
All fingers have 3 phalanges except the thumb which only has 2.
