Anyone know about insurance???

I resigned from my job on April 13. They told me I was covered till April 30, and then had to go on Cobra. I still have not received cobra papers. I had to go to the doctor last night due to severe cramping.

I have tried calling my old job about 3 times now to speak to the woman who handles cobra and still no reply.

Will my appointment be covered if I pay for the month?

I am so stressed out and really can't afford a huge doctor bill but I don't understand why no one is calling back!!!

I doubt they terminated you off of insurance.......... Typically if you take Cobra they just change your status- you keep the same insurance cards, etc. By law you have 90 days (i think) from the time of termination to decide on taking COBRA and it is retroactive. I guess what I am trying to say- they probably haven't taken you off and in the event they did you can pay for it and get reimbursed by the insurance company.

Cobra is my new hobby and obsession since I will be leaving my current job until we get on DH's new insurance. As I understand it, use your same cards, you are automatically covered till 4/30. After that, you have 60 days to sign up for cobra, I would not wait that long though. Then coverage is retroactive. Def continue to contact your employer to make sure you cobra packet is on its way.

in order to terminate you I believe you have to sign something that they offered it to you and you refused. I would call your insuranmce company and confirm that you are still active.
