Anyone have serious concerns about all the North Korea news?
every single day there is at least one story about the psychotic leader of that country making another threat.
today, there are reports that they plan to shoot a ballistic missile towards Hawaii around the 4th of July. Now there is a story about the US military tracking a NK ship suspected to be carrying nukes.
SCARY STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not the flu, not the plane crashes nothing really got to me but a freaking lunatic controlling a country scares me; I am concerned about what is going on with N. Korea! there is no way of knowing what is in his head, people like that totally freak me out!

Absolutely - just reading an article in the paper about that 4th of July threat and the government said they are prepared for it, which made me even more nervous that this could actually happen.

Concerned? Yes...Completly!!!
But also know that I cannot do anything about it and cannot live in fear and have to trust in who we put in charge to keep us safe, or as safe as we can be...its not ALL that reassuring but its all I got

China is an equal opportunity *****.
they will get in bed with anyone...but they don't have to like them.
china is a "communist" country. as is N. Korea. that in and of itself is a tie that binds. they would still like to see communism survive and thrive, so while they may not like the current regime, they also would be less inclined to try to get them ousted, especially when the US and S. Korea are keen to then turn the country into a democracy. no self-respecting commie would want that lol
but while the chinese govt is "communist" they are not stupid. and they are closer to N. Korea than most countries are. I would shine Kim Jong Il's shoes if I was the chinese ambassador.
and while I think KJI is a frigging raving lunatic, there are other people in the N. Korean govt who understand and realize that if they DARED attack any one of these countries they are threatening, the island of Korea would be OBLITERATED. GONE. DUST.
and while KJI may be a suicidal glory hound, the rest of the country most likely does not want to follow him down that path.
I mean, obviously I would not want to see them launch ANYTHING, nuclear or not, in an attack on another country...i just feel that the can of whoopass they would open would be a huge deterent there.
I think he's just a megalomanic that enjoys the idea that he can instill fear in people, but at the end of the day, he must know the utter defeat he would face.
 that we never have to find out.

I am most worried about the strain on our armed forces if this happens. How will we fund and have enough troops for 3 wars at one time?
Do you think they would have to bring back the draft if this happened? Does anyone know what the draft requirements are now?

Different countries have infinite more capabilities than they had just a short time ago. e live under a greater threat of nuclear attack now han we did in the 80s when it was talked about all the time. I often wonder why it's not talked about more when there it is.

quite simple, actually... China is like russia... their alliances are not formed out of similar backgrounds or values (like the US and europe, for example).... it's always solely out of military or economic strategy.
N. Korea is a bit of a nuissance to them, but it's much better having a s#ithole like that as a border nation than a democratic, wealthy, and technologically advanced nation like S. Korea. China does NOT want something like that right on its borders to tempt its citizens. Much better for the chinese to look over the border and see a backwards nation (eastern russia)  and a nutty dictactorial wasteland without electricity (N. Korea).
It's unfortunate to say, but I think N. Korea will eventually need to be bombed back to the middle ages, and their gov't completely overthrown. There's just no other way. I don't think china would defend them... becuase china is to wrapped up in the american and EU economies. I feel bad for all north korean citizens.

NK tested it's first nuclear weapon on 7/4/06
their 2nd nuclear test was on Memorial Day of this year
so now they believe they will launch this ballistic missile on 7/4 of this year
NK needs to be wiped off the map! I've been doing some reading on Kim Jong Il. he is WORSE than Hitler!

I believe i heard on the news that the missiles they want to launch have a range of about 4000 miles,
and Hawaii is 4500 miles from where it would launch from
So not sure it would reach Hawaii just go in that general direction.
i think its just Kim Jong Il struttin his stuff and waving his (little) stick around

Yep the cyclone sisters and their DH's are going together! Jackie never had her honeymoon last Nov. because her DH couldn't get the time off. I wish I was as close to my sisters as my DD's are.

I am more worried for S.Korea. Millions of people could be killed in Seoul alone.
That being said, I don't think they have the capability to attack the US just yet. Reports that I have heard suggest that yes they have missiles and yes they have nuclear bombs, they can't put them together. Apparently the nuclear bombs they have been testing are rather big and they can't get them to fit on the missile. Many believe that N. Korea isn't technologically able to launch nuclear missiles just yet.

To answer the OP, YES I am scared. My SIL lives in Kona, on Big Island of Hawaii.
This is scary shite.
Also, it does not matter WHERE the NK missiles hit be it Hawaii or South Korea, the point is a evil human being has nuclear capabilities ans will use them for harming other people. THAT should scare everyone.

Yes, I do... and I this is why I watch Glenn Beck, he tells it like it is. I would rather be alerted to things than live in the "ignorance is bliss" frame of mind and not have some type of a plan B.. although not to sure the plan B would even work...I'm hopeful.

What would a Plan of any sort be? What is there that any of us can possibly do? I am scared sure, but If I let the fear take over, where will I end up?
