anyone has a dc in private speech therapy?
I'm looking into this for my ds. We already met with a coordinator from early intervention. Now my dh and I are thinking we should have him privately evaulated. (our insurance covers it). Has anyone had or is having speech therapy using a private therapist as opposed to early intervention? Can anyone tell me their reasoning and choice in the matter. Just trying to weigh all my options. Thanks!

I will go that route if Christopher does NOT qualify through Early Intervention.

Where do you live? I think my cousin sent her DD to someone in Huntington who was very good - let me know if you are interested, and i'll find out who it is....

I did...my daughter qualified for speech therapy and received services through her EI provider..but I also had her receive services privately. We used Linda Tepperman (not sure of the spelling) she was in Commack right on Commack road..It was a large office and she had maybe 4/5 speach pathologists in with her.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm in Levittown. Do the private therapist come to the house, or do you usually go to the office?
