Oh Marie! Everynight is a struggleChat Icon ..I toss and turn to try to find the best position and sometimes I wake up on my backChat Icon ...we are not supposed to be sleeping on our backs at 15 weeks, right? Maybe we can get more supportive pillows or something...have you considered the snoogle yet...I wonder if that will help...I really close to getting one just to try something new...I hope we both find better sleep soonChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Anyone else's shoulders killing them from having to sleep on our sides?

It can be tough to find the right sleeping position Chat Icon I'd try working with pillows or a snoogle to see if you can find the support/position that works for you.

I end up with pain in my right hip when I sleep on that side, I have had arthritis in that hip since I was 18, so I think the PG is aggravating it. Keeping a pillow between my legs helps, but it often moves during the night and I end up sleeping on my back a lot - I don't know if I'm 'supposed' to at 23 weeks, but I figure my body will tell me to move if it isn't right.

Good luck Chat Icon

Yes, my shoulder, my hips, my legs.. I wake up a million times a night having to switch sides. The snoogle just didn't work for me- it doesn't have enough neck support, and its too hard to turn over with it.

Yes!!!!!! So glad to see other people are feeling my pain LOL! My whole side goes numb after laying on it for awhile. It's ridiuculous. I have to wake up in the middle of the night just to change sides. Then I can't get back to sleep right away, this baby better be coming soon!!!!!!!!

Not my shoulders, but my ribcage has started hurting a little from sleeping on my sides. I've always been a sideway sleeper though

I get that sometimes, I sleep on two pillows and find that it takes the pressure off. IF you fluff the pillows and put it in between your head and shoulders it relieves some of the pressure.

My neck is a disaster. I have tried 3 different pillows, no pillow. I just give up.

My shoulders are fine......it's my hips that absolutely KILL me!! They are SO sore throughout the night and in the morning from sleeping on my sides. Going to bed and making it through to the morning is complete torture these days. I miss sleeping on my tummy and being comfortable. Can't wait for this baby to arrive!!!

EDIT - Oh yes........and my ribcage too is killing me in the morning. I think the baby settles down onto my ribcage more when I'm sleeping on my side. Torture!!

My neck, upper back, and lower back hurt from sleeping! I have been going to a chiropractor which is helping a bit.

Re: Anyone else's shoulders killing them from having to sleep on our sides?

My midwife says you really don't ned to worry about just sleeping on your sides until later in pregnancy and she says even then a lot of women still sleep on their backs. She said your body will tell you if you need to switch positions of if you can't sleep on your stomach anymore.

I can sleep on my left side because of a bad shoulder injury I have. I have permanent nerve damage on my left side so if I put any pressure on that shoulder my whole arm goes numb and is extremely painful.

I can't sleep on my stomach anymore because its too hard

SO that leave me with my right side and back.............

I stil wake up with my hips hurting and shoulders aching though.........

OMG, yes! And the hips too. I'm propping up a king sized pillow along my side and that helps a little.

True but at 36 weeks now there is NO sleeping on my back. Even if you technically were "allowed" it's SO, SO uncomfortable. If I even lay on my back for a minute it feels like someone piled up 10 tons of bricks on my belly. Its just too much bearing down on my lower back these days to even try but early on I still slept on my back. I made the switch a few weeks into my 2nd trimester.

Oh I'm sure its not comfortable, so if you do lay on your back your body willlet you know to turn over. A lot of people freak out that they HAVE TO sleep on their sides early on and it isn't true............

My sister slept on her stomach until she was 8 months and on her back until the day she delivered........Every one is different!!

Your sister is SO lucky!!! I would kill to be able to sleep on my stomach!!! This side sleeping thing is for the birds!!! Chat Icon I've just resigned myself to the fact that until this baby is out there will be no comfy sleep.........but then again, once this baby is out there will probably be no sleep at all. Not only do they hurt but they fall asleep along with my hand and fingers. It has become a project trying to have a good sleep.
