Anyone color or get highlights while pg?
Yes, Im considering this and I know its ok to do from what I read and hear but Im sure like all of you ladies, its still a concern for me.
My roots are getting a little out of hand and I dont think I could hold out too much longer. Its hightlights and I know for sure that he (my stylist) dosent touch the root so I feel safe with that.
What do u think?

Yes, I do it every 3 weeks, highlight with veggie dye though, not whole head.

My SIL did through her WHOLE pregnancy.
I think as long as you are in a well ventilated salon you should be fine

I highlighted my hair every 12 weeks after the first trimester. Doctor said highlights are fine since they don't touch your scalp.

My Dr. said absolutely no hair dye in the first trimester, my colorist said that vegetable dye is just the name ... she said there is no such thing as a vegetable dye ...but who knows everyone says something different.. just listen to you Dr. I cant wait to color my hair I can January 11, 2007. I have some nasty roots showing but I keep telling myself get OVER IT!

My understanding of the veggie dye is it is semi perminant and washes out or fades therefore not being as harsh with chemicals as perminant dye.

That's too funny. My colorist said the same thing! The way my colorist explained it to me is that although certain products can claim they are "vegetable dyes" because they use mostly natural ingredients, many still contain some form of peroxide or other chemical agent. Regardless, I waited until after my first trimester and have gotten it highlighted twice since. My doctor told me to wait until after the first trimester as well. I have several of the pregnancy books and the ones I have say it's okay. To be extra cautious though I didn't put any dye directly on the scalp.

I did foil highlights when I was at 6 weeks because my doctor said it was okay. She also said I can color once I'm out of my first trimester...which is in about 4 weeks! I say do what your doctor feels is best and what you feel comfortable with. From what I've read, there is nothing that says the color they use these days are harmful.

Highlighting your hair is perfectly fine, although some may feel differently. I got my whole head highlighted at around 12 wks. and am getting it done again in a few weeks. It is not a dye and it doesnt touch your scalp.

highlights are fine. they don't touch your scalp and in reality, the hair dyes aren't on your head long enough to actually seep into your skin/blood and be absorbed.
i got mine done recently. i wasn't worried at all...i was reassured in my last pregnancy by an article i read stating what I wrote above...it's not on your head long enough to begin to cause a risk.

I am a hairdresser who foil highlighted my hair my entire pregnency with my daughter.. I also worked with it everyday, breathing it in, and touching it all the time. My Doc said it is fine and that there are no tests that show its not. My and all the girls I work with have all been fine!

My dr. told me it was completely fine to color my hair - I did full out dye job in my 1st trimester - all the way to the roots, since I do red hair.... I decidde I wont do it as often during my PG, so even though my roots are in and I can see grays, I'm going to stick it out another few months, if possible!!!

I just asked my doctor this last week and she said it's perfectly fine to get highlights. I go tomorrow night to fix my nasty roots!
