Have you had him checked for a tongue/lip tie? Sometimes when nursing hurts it can be due to ties. They also contribute to inefficient removal of milk, which in turn decreases milk supply. That is why there will be weigt gain at the beginning, and it will slowly taper off.
Yes he had a tongue tie. We got it fixed when he was 1 week old. It hurts more after pumping. He latches well. I started the tea. Thanks

You have to drink tons of water. And even when you feel you drank enough drunk more! Mothers milk tea helped me. I used traditional medicine. It's sort of licorice tasting, not bad at all. Once my cousin made oatmeal cookies and I had so much more milk after eating them, completely unintentional too.
I'm pushing myself to drink more water and I started the tea. I bought a box of oatmeal cookies too. Thanks

Yes, I agree with this too. I would also drink a full glass either right before pumping, or while pumping. I think it definately helped.

Just wanted to add to be careful with trying to increase your supply with supplements. You don't want to create an oversupply and become engorged, it can lead to a whole host of other problems. Just make sure to talk it over with your LC when you meet with them.
My DC did not get back to birth weight for 3 weeks. At 1 month he was nursing constantly and not sleeping much. It is tough. But now at 6 months he is in 90th percentile for height and weight and still nursing.
Hang in there momma!
