Anxiety before period. BCP related?
I've never had this issue before DD2 was born & now every months I get almost depressed, short tempered, & lately very anxious/anxiety right before my period.
Do you think it's my birth control & worth talking to me OB about?!

It is extremely possible that your anxiety is related to ur period. Both my psychiatrist and my gyno said that a lot of women experience higher anxiety when their period is approaching. I am not sure what the reason is--maybe a surge in the hormones?? But once I started to realize it was happening, I just kind of accepted it as another annoying symptom and tried to wait it out.

I can accept the other symptoms, but this is leaving me a wreck! I'm on edge, biting my fingers, snappy with my kids, and almost on the verge of just crying.
I guess maybe it's time to talk to my OB & maybe switch to another BC pill.

im so sorry ur feeling that way, Id def. talk to ur OB. There r so many pills on the market, I am sure u can find something that works better. I had a good experience on orth tri cyclin lo

Anxiety before period. BCP related?
Talk to your OB, because your BC may or may not help you. Some BC's can exacerbate symptoms like that, while others can help. Also with having kids, your hormones do change and the BC you were on previously may not be the best one anymore. I was on the same pill for years and years before DD and it worked great, but after having her I had to switch because I was just moody with it and so OB decided to have me try something else.

I would def talk to your ob. I cant take bc due to the anxiety and depression it causese...

I just started this as well. I noticed it starting last week. Very anxious, feeling like a lump in my throat, palpitations, etc. Today is CD1 and still feeling it, just not as bad. WONDERFUL! a new PMS Symptom
Gonna ask my obgyn what I can do. If I get any info., I'll pass it along

Thank you girls! I'm giving it one last month & if it happens, even with exercising regularly, good eatting; I'm calling. (it did go away a few months ago, but then with some stress last month, it happened again).

Last month I started seeing a Chiropractor and she's been treating my anxiety with nutritional response testing. It has helped so much with my anxiety. I'm on some supplements now to balance out my body and I have to admit I'm feeling much better. Something you may want to think about and try :)

this happens to me too. not on bcp's though. i had to get off of them because it made everything worse. and i tried a few.
so instead, i try to eat as clean as possible right before i think it's going to begin, get in a bit more exercise, and A LOT less carbs, sugar, caffeine & alcohol (seemed to aggravate my symptoms).
and picked up a guided meditation cd that also helped shape a different outlook.

Anxiety before period. BCP related?
Could it be PMDD? I'm just like you described pretty much from ovulation till I get my period. Meds help and there is a bcp that can help too.
Just something to check out.
