I don't know all the answers, but I do know that we can't keep losing more and more people, and living our lives like we have for the past 18 months.

I can understand hesitancy to get young children vaccinated for Covid. Reasonable people can and should take pause, look at the data, speak to their ped, etc.

But it's mind boggling how some people aren't willing to do ANYTHING to end this.

Pushback on masks. Pushback on the vaccine for adults, which while not perfect is preventing millions of deaths around the world. Pushback on staying home. Pushback on testing, even.

Enough with the nonsense and at least try to do the right thing.

One or two people on here have insisted they really believe some people love the masks and want to wear them forever. Well, I'm starting to think some people love Covid and don't want this to go away.

Push back on Staying home?
Almost 2 years later.
You expect people to not push back on still staying home?
Are you still staying home?

Hey, you don’t gotta get vaccinated. You’re body, your choice.
Just a weekly test then.
And now THAT is an issue.
Now THAT is an infringement on freedom
Not saying anyone here said it, but what I’m reading elsewhere.

It’s political theater at this point.
Plain and simple.

For people who complain all the time about liberals whining and wanting exceptions made for them and their pronouns or bathroom choices, good lord.

I think some of the issue is that the testing will only last so long and it will turn into a vaccine mandate. Like if you give in a little they will keep asking for more (I am vaccinated so I’m just speculating)

Also right now - since vaccinated people are getting sick as well - wouldn’t it make more sense to test everyone?

I'll get a weekly test. I'll get a daily test. I'll test 6 times a day.

But everyone should. Because we know the vaccine doesn't stop transmission. When someone can explain the "science " behind that I will be alllllll ears.

No, I'm not still staying home. I'm vaccinated and living my life while still taking common sense precautions - washing my hands, masking while in crowded indoor places, etc.

I'm talking about the people who push back on everything or most things.

For example, I know someone who is adamant about not being vaccinated but she is still minimizing going out and wearing a mask when she does. She is considerate of others and trying to stop the spread. No problem.

I'm talking about the people who don't want to do ANYTHING to make this better. No masks, no staying home, no vaccine, etc. There are a few people on here - I won't name them, they know who they are - but I am speaking in general. Those people sound so foolish. Grow up and at least try to be part of the solution.

We are now required to come in a couple times a week and will increase in the months to come. Who knows if they will require all employees to be vaccinated. Many if not MOST people I know can't afford to leave a job and stay home or try and find a job that will not require a vaccine so they are shit out of luck.

Most people have been doing the things for 19 months...stay home, wash hands, mask up, social distance, vaccinated and yet here we are at the point where people are losing their jobs for not wanting to inject themselves with a shot that doesn't even work.

Vaccines have been rolled out for months and 70% of the population is vaccinated yet the virus is still here, infecting the vaccinated and unvaccinated alike yet the government thinks the end to this is mandating more vaccinations. It's absolutely about control.

Our government and health officials are all over the place on this pandemic. They say one thing and then another happens...how are people supposed to trust them?? The Biden administration a few months ago said that they would not be mandating the vaccine because that should not be something the federal government should be doing yet here we are.

For some people, including federal employees now, testing is not an option. One of my friends pushed back so hard, she was willing to get tested and her job said no, jab or leave...how is that a choice?? How is that OK?

This entire administration is a horrible joke. This is what tyranny looks like.

ETA: now he’s talking about the kids getting vaccinated. We knew this is where they are going. Open your eyes people… mandatory vaccinations for kids is right around the corner

But we already have a whole slew of mandatory vaccination for kids to go to school....

I mean my kids had to get the Hep B shot. Hep B doesn't really effect kids due to the way it's contracted.

There are plenty vaccines we give our kids however they have been tested for years and actually work unlike this one.

Flu kills more kids then COVID and that has never been mandated so ask yourself why this vaccine? Especially since it doesn’t prevent transmission of the virus AT ALL

Also the impact of this vaccine on fertility is unknown, it can cause heart problems in teen boys and many kids are dying from blood clots linked to the vaccine.

So it seems to me more risky for my kids to be vaccinated than it does for them to get covid.

Deblasio said no vaccine mandate for students is necessary right now which was shocking to me.

The newest thing is in regards to blood donations. I haven't looked too much into it maybe someone else has but the vaccine impacts the ability to donate and receive blood Again no other vaccine has had this effect and it doesn't make you question what you are putting in your body?

How is she managing with not going out much? If she feels adamant about not getting vaccinated does that mean she will minimize going out forever because I assume she doesn't want to ever get it.
I don't mind wearing a mask but I can't imagine sitting home like I did last spring.
I'd probably end up suicidal. That was such a dark, horrible time for me.

She's retired so no real "need" to go out. She does peapod and amazon for her household goods and has a nice backyard that she spends time in so she at least gets outside. She'll do outdoor activities - outdoor dining, plays tennis, etc. She will go to indoor places but only when she really needs to.

I think she'll get it eventually, especially after the winter when she's going to be inside a lot while others aren't. But we'll see.

I'm genuinely sorry you had a hard time. That totally sucks. Fortunately I don't think society will go back to a complete shutdown, for a number of reasons.

Your post doesn't address what I wrote, but whatever, I don't think a back and forth is worth it. I stand by my statement - if you (general you) aren't willing to do ANYTHING to make this stop for the greater good, you're a jerk.

The vaccine does work. Perhaps not as well against the Delta variant, but it's clearly preventing death and long haul symptoms in the large majority of people who get it. There is also evidence that it reduces transmission - no, it doesn't eliminate it, but no one ever said it would. If every adult got vaccinated, then we could probably all get back to normal because then most people's symptoms would be mild and it would more closely resemble a "typical" virus. That's obviously not going to happen so the LEAST people can do is put on a mask but no, you have people yelling and cursing at teenagers at school board meetings because people might have to put a piece of cloth over their face (gasp!)

Our selfishness as a society will be the end of us for sure.

It sounds more like the precautions this person is taking is to protect herself, not because she is concerned about getting and spreading it to others.... Just an observation.

First I am still curious as to the CURRENT rate of mortality, hospitalizations due to COVID. It seems like for some reason these stats, which IMO are the most important, are hard to come by. Thankfully the virus still has a high survival rate even amongst the immune compromised.

I mean on one hand the healthcare system is ready to fire healthcare workers for not getting a vaccine but on the other hand we are in a pandemic and hospitals are overwhelmed?? How does that make sense??..if that was the case then why fire the same healthcare workers that worked all last year without a vaccine?

And to answer your question, I think most people, including myself, are willing to subject ourselves to testing if the need proves. If the option to go back into work was a test or vaccine I would 100% choose the test and I think most vaccine hesitant people feel the same however even now that option is being removed for some. In addition vaccinated people can come freely as they please yet they still contract and spread COVID...how does that make this vaccine effective?

The problem lies that even with the current vaccines and high vaccination rates, COVID rates seem to be increasing, proving that all these measures vaccines, masks in the past 19 months have done nothing to move us forward. Here we are and we are worse off. We have major cities requiring vaccine passports to eat at a restaurant...it's absurb and makes no sense.

I think we know now that the vaccine helps you and you alone. It will prevent hospitalizations but it hasn't really curbed the spread of covid, it won't prevent mutations, etc. I think that it's selfish of people to not want to put on a mask. I truly think that masks are the only thing that actually work. But I actually don't personally know any adults that are fighting against mask mandates outside of children having to wear them in school.

Exactly! You have a high percentage of people who are vaccinated and a good majority of people wearing masks yet here we are, 19 months later still in the same position. Either the COVID prevention measures are not effective or this virus is being used to control people. Either way people are applying their critical thinking skills to all of this and questioning these mandates as they absolutely should be.
