Adding new- born to insurance

Hi everyone,

My wife and I had our little precious girl a week ago. She is a preemie and will spending the next several weeks in the NICU. At the same time, we are switching to a new insurance carrier and I need to know when we are suppose to add her to the new policy which begins on 7/1. While she is in the NICU or when she comes home? We just want to be sure that her stay at the NICU will be covered by the new insurance. I know that we had to send our current insurance carrier documentation to verify her birth. It had to be submitted by day 30 after her birth for her to be covered. Just a little confused about her coverage after the new insurance becomes effective. If anyone can help shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I notified my insurance right after I gave birth to my daughter and they added her right away. I will call them to make sure.

For now, she should be covered under your current carrier.
