? about 07 Honda CRV lease -update

I hate looking for a new car because I always feel like I'm going to be scammed.
No money down, $350/month for 48 months, 12k miles. Is this a good deal?

Update: Thanks for all of the advice, I looked further and I got a GREAT deal and I'm picking my new car up on FridayChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

Can they do 36 months instead? 48 seems a little long. Does the $350 include taxes and all the upfront fees?

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

I'm in a 48 month lease right now (with VW) and I wish I had done something shorter.

it includes everything, 36 months would be more around $370-$380

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

We are paying $350 for a Nissan Murano w/ nothing down and everything in the payment and 36 months.

I would say you got a decent deal however I would call a few other dealers and see if you could get the $350 for 36 months.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

I have read it is better not to do anything longer than a 36 month lease. I think because that is how long cars are covered for in most warranties 3yr/36k.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

My sister bought a CRV last year and hated it....she traded it in after 3 months...said it took up too much gas. She was paying around $400 a month and put $500 down but rolled in $2K she owed from her Santa Fe which she loved and still until this day regrets getting rid of. The deal itself doesn't sound that bad although leases over 36 months are generally not a good thing unless you plan to buy the car after the lease is up. Hondas are generally extremely reliable and retain value so if you plan on keeping it I would say go for it. Good Luck

ETA: If you plan on returning the vehicle once the lease is up make sure 12K miles a year is enough. This is what we had on the lease for our Explorer and we live in the city so don't have to drive alot of places but still went over our mileage which can be pricey at the end.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

Danielle did a 48 month lease on her 2002 civic and after 3 years we were trying to get out of the lease. We ended up keeping it for the extent of the lease but hated it - and couldnt wait for the lease to end.

After the lease we up, we leased a 2006 Kia Sportage - which looks like the 06 CRV in the front.

I have owned Honda's all of my life, and I have to say that Kia did the right thing with the new sportage. It is an excellent truck. We have about 9000 miles on it right now, and it still drives like the day we picked it up. No squeeks and it is very tight and responsive.

We haul everything with it and are amazed at what we can fit into that truck.

From Danielle's Vanity, to a Credenze to even a dissasembeld Shed that I got from Lowes.

As far as Suv's go, the gas mileage isnt that bad. It is A V6, not a 4 cyl.

The truck comes standard with V6, 4 Wheel Drive, Traction Control, CD radio with 6 Speakers, A/c, Full Power. This is the LX model. It retails for $21k.

We are leasing it for $0 down - Plus tax, liscence etc....Came to $2200. $199 a month for 2 years. And when the lease is up this coming december we will be buying another one. Great Truck. I highly recommend it over the CRV.

Also JD Powers rated it as its NUmber 1 Small SUV.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

12k sounds low. I think leases always get you with the miles. You have to always be watchful of your miles or else it will really get you. Why not buy used?

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

I feel like $350 / month for 48 months sounds like a lot! You will have paid $16,800 over the life of the lease for something you don't even own at the end of the day. The CRV-s aren't that expensive either!

I have a CRV and I love it, but I bought mine in 2003 and it was only $23K brand new! I just couldn't imagine leasing it for $16,800 instead of buying it for just a little more!

I would reconsider... Maybe purchase a certified pre-owned or look into the Hyundais or Kias as some of the others suggested.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

They way to negotiate a lease or a buy is to start with the invoice price. Go to Edmunds.com and plug in the info about the car and find out how much it costs.

Then to go to the dealer and negotiate on that number. Do not negotiate on a monthly payment.

Have the dealer work with the invoice price of the car to get you a payment. 48 months is too long unless you are one of those people who keeps a car forever, in that case just buy it.

39 months is the longest I have ever leased and I regretted it. I am looking to get out of my lease 3 months early on a 36 month lease most of the time.

I have an Accord that I pay $350/mo. No money down except for taxes and reg and it's 36 months.

It sounds like you have some more homework to do. Good luck!

For a lease- I think that sounds OK b/c there's no money down.

DH is paying about $215 a month and he put $5,000 down for 36 months. We also have 12K miles but we are probably going to go over-- even though it is more money- my only advice would be to up the mileage to 15k. Chat Icon Chat Icon

It's a great car- you'll love it!

I have a new Rav-4 if you want to check out that car too-- it's similar, I like mine a lot too.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

we have a Saturn Vue. We have a 48 month lease/12K miles a year-- we hardly drive the car and figure we will be living here for no longer than 5 years-- so, when we get a house--we will get a new car. It does seem like a long time-- but, we wanted to keep the price down and we really didn't care if we had a longer lease.

We put like $3K down to keep our payments low-- we pay $280 a month-- and that includes an extra service fee-- so whenever we bring it in-- we don't have to pay for anything.

That still seems like a lot to me for a car that is under $25K AND I had a GM Supplier Discount.

Honestly- I haven't had a car before this one in almost 8 years-- lived in Manhattan-- I thouhgt leasing would be a lot cheaper.

I do recco using edmunds.com-- we used that to get the best price on our lease as well.

We were offered a 36 month lease with 2k down with 15k miles per year for $329 a month.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

Sounds like alot of money, though I know you said no money down.

Have you driven the CRV, it didn't get the greatest reviews. It said it had no power, I think it only has 160 hp. Also, it said it is a great car to run errands in, but not a good long distant car. I was thinking of buying one, they are very cute.

I was between two cars before I leased the one I have. They where bought 35K cars, and the lease price I got was around the same, and one was lower then the one you got, execpt with $3000 down, and 15K, for 42 months. I think the CRV is only around 25K.

Re: ? about 07 Honda CRV lease

I lease an 05 CRV for $268 a month, $1000 down for 48 months. That was through "a friend" and I'm not sure it was the greatest deal. I paid taxes and fees up front too. The 12,000 miles is standard.

I agree though that a 36 month lease would be better. Good luck!

As the wife of a car dealer, that sound a little high to me. And 48 months is a long lease. What interest rate are you paying? No one's mentioned that yet, but that could be the deciding factor on your monthly payments. If you put down a little to cover the taxes up front, you'd be amazed at how the monthly amount changes.
