38 week pregnancy scare & drama! - a little Long
Well, So far I have not had the easiest pregnancy, but by the grace of God even with all the complications and scares my son has been keep safe and healthy. He is measuring in the 88 th percentile and looks good on every sono. I went to see my Ob/gyn on Monday, and all was well, my Due date was put back to the 20th (again) and My son is 8lbs according to the sono! When DH and I got home, I was walking away from the car towards my apartment, I tripped over the pavement, stumble for about 3 seconds, and fell Flat and Hard on MY belly!!!! OMG! I immediately PANICKED! Luckily DH was pulling away to go to work but He Saw me Fall and Ran out of the car and Scooped me up and we were on our way to the hospital!
All I Could think was that I had Just Hurt my poor Baby! Hysterical, I called my Doc and she said, Don't go the hospital come right back to the office and she wanted to do another sono, and Check me out. She assured me that the baby was well protected in all the fluid and cushioning, but the concern is bleeding or detaching of the placenta, also being RH Negative Maternal Fetal Blood Mixing. In my hysteria, I was not too aware of how bad I cut up both of my hands, and knees, not to mention my chin. My doc check me out and the baby, The first thing she showed me was that the baby's heart was beating and that I was not bleeding. But She sent me to Labor and Delivery to be monitored for 4 hours.
I was taken in immediately and placed on the monitor and another sono was done. What was really scaring me was the fact that The baby Had not moved once since I had fallen, and that was a concern for the doc as well, so after some buzzer stimulation he got stimulated and started moving around. the fetal monitor started showing some contractions every 8 mins so the Doc at the hospital and my Dr. decided that I needed to be admitted for 24 hours, just in case. The logic was that If anything was going to happen it would be in that time period.
I continued to have contractions all night but I did not even feel them, So the plan was to send me home at noon. The baby looked fine the whole time, and I did not go into labor, So I was happy to go home.
I thank God that my Son is ok, and am glad that he did not come yesterday under such scary conditions. I did get a shot of Rhogam just incase the fall did cause some maternal fetal blood mixing. Yesterday and Today I feel extremely sore especially in both my arms, back, and neck (I really did fall hard) but I am so glad that DS is safe and healthy.
Well, I thought I would share this story, because I was told by 4 other people while in the hospital that they too had fallen pretty hard during their pregnancy (including my mother who fell when she was 38 weeks pregnant with me, I had no Idea!!!) and they all were fine, but more importantly the babies were all fine. The anxiety and terror I felt when I fell was so overwhelming, I really thought I had seriously harmed or worse my baby. But the reassurance that when God Designed our bodies for being pregnant, he Knew what he was doing and made sure that there was a lot of cushion and protection just incase mommy took a fall. I hope all of you are having a safe and Happy and Healthy Pregnancy!!!  And remember, Watch your step!!!

Im glad you and your son are ok
My biggest fear is falling while I am pregnant. We have a little cat that likes to follow me and he is at my heels all the time and I have stumbled over him but never fallen!!

How terrible!!! I am so glad that you and your  are OK! I took 2 spills while I was pregnant and I was so scared that I hurt the baby. But like your doctor told you - they are so well protected in the fluid. It's more a shock to US than it is to them!!!

You're right, our bodies were designed well to protect our babies. If they weren't, we would be extinct a long time ago.

oh my poor mimi and little boyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i heard from helen but i was saying prayers that everything went well.....i actually got excited that it was time  so now the due date is pushed to the 20th again! oh geez! well im sooooooooooooooooooooooo glad u and baby are doing well and u r still in my thoughts and prayers
