Good news!!! Updated with better news!
My uncle went into the hospital a little over 2 months ago (September 24th) for Pancreatitis and it quickly went really really downhill. He was hooked up to a bunch of machines all keeping him alive since then...but TODAY, they were able to take him off the ventilator....and he's no longer being sedated! He was on 3 sedation medications, and totally dependent on the vent, so this is HUGE!
He recognized my aunt for the first time today, and gave my mom a kiss. 
He's still got a looooong road ahead of him...but this is the first sign of progress we've seen in 2 months....so it really feels like a miracle!
Update 1/4:
He's home!!!
They released him from rehab today and he's home! He can walk with a walker, or if someone helps him, he can walk on his own. He lost a lot of muscle tone....and three months of his life, so he's got a lot to do still.....but he's on his way!
Never give up hope!!!

Today....he was talking up a storm! He wished my grandmother a happy birthday...which is the best gift anyone could have gotten for her.
He's still hard to understand, but he's showing HUGE signs of improvement, so we're all really optimistic!
