Well, it’s that time of the year again. And despite all the frenzied running around, it sometimes seems impossible to shake those extra pounds. In fact with all the pumpkin spice, egg nog and caramel lattes wafting through the air, along with the scent of bake goods and other decadently delicious holiday foods, temptation becomes that much harder to resist. Mix in a few friendly holiday mixers and your now have a recipe for “diet” disaster. And, that doesn’t bode well for looking “bodacious” in your little black (holiday) dress.

But, the good news is you “can” eat, drink and be merry, even during the holidays, if you are willing to follow a few simple strategic (stay slim and sexy) rules.

· Tighten you belt: In fact, wear snug fitting clothes, which seem to have a “strange” effect on our eating habits, helping to curb them. And, for “extra protection” slip into a sexy pair of shoes, which some say helps hinder habits like lounging with a box of bon-bons or reaching into the cookie jar.

· Out of sight, out of mind: Keep fattening foods and tempting treats out of reach so that it makes them much more difficult to get to, you may even forget about them. And, though it’s better to simply NOT bring them into the house, you “will” want to have some on hand for your holiday guests. And, when it comes to candies (on display) fill dishes with wrapped chocolates or individual hard candies to keep your cravings at bay

· Opt for buffet style banquets when possible: While some may prefer to have food at easy access, which is a great way to entertain, a buffet-style fete can help you and your guests eat less, since “getting seconds” requires getting up, rather than just reaching just beyond your plate. Also, make sure not to nipple while preparing “doggie” bags or putting food away.

· Dishing it out: You can either give yourself a smaller plate or use a regular size one and fill it ONCE with all you intent to eat (stick to mostly veggies, greens, and healthy items), and don’t go back for second. And, when it comes to dessert, opt for fruits or skip it altogether. However if you’re the one entertaining or there’s simply something you simply can’t resist, consider taking a taste and that’s it.
