Re: Think Warm! What SPF do you use for laying out in the sun?

anywhere from 15-45

I tend to apply on the higher side during the beginning of the summer, so I really prevent burning.

if you could see how oddly pale i am you would understand... Think Nicole Kidman meets a glass of milk Chat Icon

But yeah- history of skin cancer, I burn in about 10 minutes of ANY sunlight (even non-direct) and in fifteen-twenty minutes I have blisters.

People actually comment, reguarly, about me on the beach behind my back (I can hear of course).

One time two British kids (they were like 7) were Chat Icon looking at me like that! lol What can you do?

I'm the same way! Dh's family still thinks they can find a way to get me to tan...it is VERY annoying. It's like...this is me, take me or leave me! I've had to "explain it" to people my entire life...most people (especially those that are dark skinned naturally) just don't understand us paler people and what we go through!

I'm Irish pale, so anything over 30, but I tend to also use 45.

Re: Think Warm! What SPF do you use for laying out in the sun?

I'm bad.

I usually do 8.
And sometimes..if my base is already there..I just use baby oil or banana boat oil to tan..with the least amount of spf in it.

ON my face, however, I alway use 15.

Re: Think Warm! What SPF do you use for laying out in the sun?

I use the highest I can find, and every year I say I'm going to get that opaque zinc pink or purple or blue colored stuff for my nose but I never do. I'm another very fair skinned/skin cancer family girl.

It actually makes going to the beach kind of yuck b/c of the constant applying and reapplying of sunscreen and wearing hats and having sand stick to the sunscreen. I don't really enjoy the beach except very early in the morning or at night.Chat Icon

I use a tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. The sun just doesn't seem to be what it used to be and I burn a lot easier now. Plus, now that I'm 29, I take much more care of my skin. This summer I will wear 30.

Re: Think Warm! What SPF do you use for laying out in the sun?

I always use SPF 30 on my face and body. I had some really bad burns in the past and really try to take care of my skin now.

Re: Think Warm! What SPF do you use for laying out in the sun?

30 - always. It's just silly to use anything less, or nothing at all, given all the information out there.
