Writing letters

Emma is a fabulous reader. She is on a 1-2 graders reading level (gauged by my mom a retired 1st grade teacher). However she stinks at writing her letters. I practice with her and she does ok but she is not so sure of herself, and she likes to be a perfectionist. What are some good things to get for her/help her practice on??

Re: Writing letters

I bought my son tracing paper and put it over top of a work book or my handwritten sentences and had him trace it. It helps.

Re: Writing letters

That's a great idea! This summer, I would like to work with Joseph on his letters.

Re: Writing letters

I am a preschool teacher and I dot out the letters. I make small dots in the shape of the letters and then my kids follow them. Sometimes I even put arrows in the direction they are supposed to go in. It has helped them a lot and usually by the end of the year, they are writing them on their own.
