kitchen space question

so...
the house i'm buying is a historical home and it comes with some benefits and some restrictions.
as i've been looking into the history of the house, i found the original floor plan.

the original house had a butler's pantry. so that got me to thinking.

would you give up some of your kitchen space to have a legit pantry?

Re: kitchen space question

It depends how much work space the kitchen has.
If it has enough, I'd love to have a full pantry.
But if it meant sacrificing enough counter space and work space to make it restrictive, I'd do without it.

Re: kitchen space question

Describe this butler’s pantry. Is there counter space there?

How much counter space is in the kitchen?

This. Our kitchen is smallish - and we've come up with alternative ways to store items because we have limited counter space as it is.

Re: kitchen space question

My kitchen is not much bigger than my bathroom, so my 2 wishlist items would be counter space & storage space.

So, what would you be giving up? If I had to pick, I wouldn't give up counter space, because things can be stored in other places. As it is, I keep some kitchen stuff in our office & if I am doing something that takes up space, like decorating cookies, I have to move to the dining table. I don't have a table in my kitchen.
