Does anyone still use an old cell phone

In German they call cell phones “Handys.” Thought I’d throw in that little tidbit.

Anyway, I’ve been debating getting a new cell phone for years. I am an iPhone user, so September usually means a new iPhone comes out and I go through this every year.

I have an iPhone 6. . I’ve had it for 7 years. I had the battery replaced once when they offered the reduced price batteries a few years back.

My phone works fine. The battery health is at 97%. I don’t need a new phone, but I *want* one. I keep things until they are run into the ground, and tbh, I really don’t use the phone much for anything but texting, email, Google maps and social media.

Just curious if anyone has an old phone as well. Or if you could tell me how fast battery health declines. I won’t buy a new battery because the iOS is out of date, so no point.

I have an older samsung. I think it's the galaxy A20. I get a new phone every few years and I usually get a model that's a few years old to save money...

I have an iPhone 7. I want a new one this year. I find my phone is working slower and that the battery life is getting bad. At this point though there’s no point in getting a new battery.

I do not have an interest in always getting the newest. My iphone was 4 or 5 years old and I would have kept it until it died but my husband just got me the Iphone 12. I was mad lol. He works in tech and always "needs" the newest and shiniest things out there. I'd be happy if I had my old blackberry back!

Iphone 8 plus. It was free and in perfect condition. My husband works in the computer IT business so he gets freebies that way when people upgrade computer, pads and phones.

I had to force DS to get a new phone. There's an app that he *has* to have for college in order to log in to various things. His old phone was so old, the app wouldn't run...

I'm never at the bleeding edge of technology, but I like to be just a few versions behind the latest. It's cheaper that way.

Iphone 6s here. Still runs mostly fine but the battery drains relatively quickly and I'll be getting a new one soon.

They said the next update probably won't support it anyway.

I had an iPhone 6 Plus for work until earlier this year. It was replaced with the iPhone XR. I replaced my personal phone (Google Pixel 2) with the iPhone 11 around the same time. Both old phones were starting to have battery issues. I don't need the latest and greatest, but I do like the both of the new phones (and I'm probably not using half of the technology available on them lol)

Same here, I had no intention of getting a new phone, had the 6 but it was so slow and I couldn’t get into work emails so I knew I had to upgrade. I got the XR and happy with it. The rest of my family have the 11 and 12. I don’t want to have payments so I try and pay off any phone when I get extra money to have a lower cellphone bill. Bill still $237/month though for 4 phones.

I just read if you have an iPhone six or seven and set it’s location to France the battery will last longer.

I have an older phone. If I had my druthers I would continue to use it. I am being forced by my carrier to get a new phone because the 3g network is being shut down. That means come January my phone will not work. I'm a bit angry because I thought this was a 4g phone. I have since discovered it is a 3g with "some" 4g capabilities.
