Amazon Returnless Refunds?

Has anyone seen this yet?
I had ordered a 2 pack of bralettes from Amazon.
When they arrived I wasn't a fan- they were flimsy and not long enough for the coverage I needed for a certain shirt.
I went to do a return today and they had an option- returnless refund.
As long as you accept a credit to your Amazon account, rather than a credit to your credit card, you don't have to send the item back.
I had to read it 3 times to make sure I was reading it right

I am guessing for small, inexpensive items, it's not worth it for them to pay for the return shipping.

I'd never seen that on Amazon before though

Yes, I have had that happen before with Amazon. Same thing with Target last year with a few clothing items I purchased online.

That's awesome! I always take the refund to my account anyway since I am always shopping on Amazon. How nice if in addition I don't have to swing by UPS and return things now too. I have not returned anything in a while so I wasn't unaware of this option.

I think it's only for certain items or certain sellers.
But yes, so much easier!

Yep! I have had this happen. I think that's exactly it: it's not worth the cost to them to ship back.

Same.

I bought (4) t-shirts from Target and they shrunk horribly in the dryer. I started a return and they refunded me and told me to donate the shirts.

Wow, I’ve never seen this either. Sadly, I’m sure it will get abused by people (even though it’s only on small items)…

Yep I went that route also. I was so confused at first. My item was only $15 and they refunded my account,

See things that have been worn and just didn't hold up or wash well I can see them telling you to keep because they can't resell them
But brand new items I found it odd- but again I guess it's not worth it to ship back
One time though, Wayfair sent us the totally wrong lighting fixture for our hallway. When I called, they sent out the correct on and said to donate or give away the other one. It was over $200!
But it was also heavy so maybe the cost to ship it back would have been prohibitive.
I totally should have sold it on FB Marketplace or something. But I didn't want to be bothered with people lol- so I donated it!

Why are you sad for Amazon? Jeff Bezos is beyond rich, I'm sure this isn't going to affect Amazon's bottom line or they wouldn't have done it in the first place.

Yeah nothing they do is without calculation I am sure.
The cost to ship those flimsy cheap bralettes back is probably more than what they are worth to them anyway

Amazon Returnless Refunds?

Yes numerous times. We just ordered one of those big Connect 4 games. They sent and charged me for two. I wanted one so I emailed for a refund and to have them pick it up and they said to just keep it and refunded my money.

Re: Amazon Returnless Refunds?

I have had this happen several times!! I actually Feel bad when this happens lol. I feel like it’s wrong and they will eventually not let me return things lol
I always choose to put it back to my original payment but for example I just got eyeshadow and it came in all broken and I didn’t want a new one. They just refunded me. Also had it happen with bags I ordered for a party favor and didn’t need them.

Once they didn’t make me return one of those huge water slides. It was over $400 they told me to just donate it.

I know it’s happened before but can’t remember all the items. Lol

That’s the only downfall I’m stuck with items I don’t want/need and I feel bad just throwing it out!!

ETA : the eyeshadow was the first time I seen the actual option for Amazon credit if you don’t want to return it. But when I chose to put it back to my original payment I still didn’t have to return it.
So I feel like the Amazon returnless option is new and probably not available on all items

FYI there are other small business that sell on Amazon that are mom and pop shops. Even if it has a prime badge it doesn't mean it's only Amazon's item. When those business take on returns, it comes out of THEIR pockets. Not Bezos.

Yes, but those small businesses probably don’t have this return less refund thing.

I very rarely shop on Amazon these days, maybe about 5-6 times a year? Prime doesn’t save you money, most things are overpriced, the search function is abysmal, and I just don’t need more STUFF. Then again, Amazon kind of sucks here.

And Amazon is going to save money with this. They are passing the disposal onto the customers.

So I guess enjoy your return less refund?

Eh, I'll still wear the bras they are letting me keep. They were right for the shirt I had in mind but they are wearable. I'll make use of them. And it saves me the gas of driving to return them

Just had that happen the other day - told to keep the item, even though I requested a refund to original form of payment.

This happens to me a lot. They definitely don't want "personal" type items back. A pair of slippers for my grandma, a twin size mattress for my daughter, bra's, etc.!

It hasn’t happened to me with Amazon but it has with Prime Now (Whole Foods), they just ask me why I’m returning the item and then they refund me the money to my original form of payment. They also don’t ask for the item back even if it’s in good conditions.

I find these types of simping for capitalism and Bezos et al so funny.

Bezos is INHUMANELY wealthy to a degree that to even suggest he is "losing out" is preposterous. Tell him to pay his fair share of taxes and maybe those mom and pop shops would have a fighting chance regardless of a silly returnless refund item.

Amazon Returnless Refunds?

Yes. I’ve had it done at Target also.
It just isn’t worth the money to them to pay for return shipping, especially if the item is defective.
They wouldn’t let you keep a TV—but a cheap item definitely.

Just a note on these...I ordered a little girl's hat for a photoshoot I was doing. It came after I needed it. I did the return and it offered me the no return option for amazon credit. I didn't want amazon credit, so selected my CC and it still didn't require me to return it. So I don't think you even have to accept the Amazon credit
