If you have had the vaccine?

What were your side effects after the first shot? Did you get Pfizer or Moderna? I got pfizer today and my arm aches.

Edit, my arm feels better, but I did wake up with a sore throat.

I've now had both doses of Moderna. With the first shot, my arm was sore for about 36 hours and then -- poof! All better. It was so weird.

Second shot? Hoo boy. Got it yesterday and actually took the day off today (I never do that) because I had 102 last night and chills. Fever never got that high again today, and I feel a lot better, but it's not 100% yet. Everyone I know who got the second shot on Monday did say they were miserable yesterday but then woke up this morning feeling absolutely fine -- hanging on to that for the morning. (Arm is still sore but better than yesterday.)

Hope you're doing well! I think Pfizer tends to get less reactions than Moderna anyway.

I got Pfizer a week ago, later in the day. My arm hurt the next day, mostly when extending it out front and to side. That only lasted about 24 hours.

I have had both doses of moderna. With the first dose I had a sore arm for about 2 days. With the second dose I had the same with some chills the night I got it. I never got a fever though and felt generally fine other than the sore arm (went to work, etc).

If you have had the vaccine?

Pfizer Dose 1: Very sore arm for 16-18 hours. Started 10 hours post-injection

Pfizer Dose 2: Minor arm pain compared to first injection. 14 hours post injection - felt off (lightheaded and tired) Lasted all day and went to bed early (8pm)

I made sure to move my arm a lot yesterday and I tried to keep it as relaxed as possible while it was being injected.

DH had Moderna. After first dose, he had fever, chills and exhaustion - he pretty much stayed in bed for 2 days.

After second dose he just had chills and exhaustion but he was up and running again after one night of sleep.

DH had both Pfizer shots. After first one, arm was a little achy. 2nd one: he got in the AM, by bedtime he wasn't feeling well. Middle of the night, he woke feeling sick. He spent much of the next day in bed with aches, fever (101), chills, nausea, exhaustion. By dinner time that 2nd day, he was pretty much back to normal.
**disclaimer that is he is a huge baby when he's sick LOL

my mom had Pfizer. First shot - arm was sore for about 24 hours.

second shot was Tuesday. She said her arm wasn't sore at all. Tuesday night started getting a headache. All day yesterday, she said the headache was there and she felt "off." By last evening, she felt sick - fever, chills, body aches. Woke up this morning, she said she feels 100%.

I've had both doses of Moderna. After the first dose, I had very mild side effects. My arm was a bit sore, and I was notably tired for a few hours that night. My stomach hurt badly for an hour the next day--right at the 24-hour mark from when I got the dose.

I had the second dose in the late afternoon on Tuesday, and I was knocked out yesterday. I didn't have chills or a fever, but I was completely exhausted physically--and I was mentally foggy. I slept almost the entire day, and my arm hurt pretty badly. My arm is still a little sore now, but I am otherwise fine.

No vaccine yet (but I'll be eligible Monday, yay asthma!) but my sister got her first Moderna shot and it was similar- arm and upper back pain but nothing unmanageable. She gets her second dose Friday.

Re: If you have had the vaccine?

Pfizer here.

I had gotten the shot at 6:00 Saturday night. At around 9:00 my arm started aching like a MF if I tried to move it. From the elbow up it was plastered to my side. If I was still, it was basically fine.

Over the course of Sunday it gradually got better. By Monday morning it was fine - maybe a twinge of soreness. I had no other symptoms.

I didn't go back to arm weights until mid week though.

My second shot is Saturday and from what I've heard I am just prepared to be useless the next day. Chat Icon

Re: If you have had the vaccine?

I haven’t had it yet (extremely slow rollout here; Their plan seems to keep us on lockdown to avoid a third wave), but I wanted to ask a question to those that had arm pain.

I got the DPT and had the same reactions as described in this thread.

Have any of you had the same reaction with other vaccines?

I have the sore arm with the flu shot every year (although not usually for this long -- but that could just be me not really remembering).

my DD complains about her arm killing her every year after her flu shot.
She got a DTAP booster this year at her annual well visit and same thing. Bad arm pain.
I think all vaccines do that to be honest because they are injecting into a muscle

My husband kept saying that it was weird because the flu shot never bothers him at all.

I also wonder if it has to do with how they inject you. Like you know when you get bloodwork sometimes and it's a nice little pinch and you're left with just a small dot but other times it's like wildcat drilling for oil and your veins are left looking like a heroin addicts all bruised up and track marks? I feel like some people are just better at taking blood. Maybe some injectors are better than others when it comes to administering a vaccine

I think a lot of that has to do with how good your veins are for blood taking. I have never had problems with it and nurses always say I have the best veins.

My last vaccine hurt my arm for a week. And a large lump happened.

Was just wondering if there was any correlation.

Sorry OP to go off track!

I don't know. My husband has good veins & doesn't have problems with IVs or blood draws or the flu shot. I haven't had this vaccine yet, but I know the tetnus shot caused a week of soreness for me.

Hi. I’ve had both doses of the Moderna vaccine. I was prepared for the worst with the second dose based on some friends experiences. My arm was definitely sore and I had a slight headache, nothing I felt I needed to take Tylenol or anything for. I was able to work the next day. Good luck to all and hope you have minimal reactions!

People naturally tense up when the needle is injected. My arm hurt a lot after the first shot so I really worked on relaxing my arm while they injected the second dose. I had considerably less pain this time around. My coworker also told me to move my arm around a lot post injection and I believe that helped as well.
