NASA will honor members of the NASA family who lost their lives while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery, including the crews of Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia, during the agency's annual Day of Remembrance Thursday, Jan. 28. This year’s NASA Day of Remembrance also marks 35 years since the Challenger tragedy.

I just got the chills. I was home sick and watched it on tv with my mom. I was 11 and remember that day like it was yesterday.

Our principal came down to tell us while we were all eating lunch in the School Gym. I was 10.
Remember it clear as day....

I remember watching in in elementary school. WE got so excited when the teacher wheeled in the TV cart. I remember after the shuttle exploded, they immediately turned the tv off.

I remember this like it was yesterday. I was in 5th grade and they wheeled TV's into the classrooms so we could all watch the news. Such a tragic day.

I remember watching this on the tv the teacher wheeled into my classroom. We were pen pals with her class. I just remember being so excited and then crying bitter tears.

I remember this distinctly too. Also in elementary school.
I watched the Netflix documentary recently. It was so sad. I vaguely knew that there was controversy about whether the shuttle should have ever taken off but I didn't realize how bad it was. There were multiple dismissals of concerns about a part that was proven for years to be faulty. It seems like it was totally preventable.
