Birthday party for November?
I really want to give my DS a birthday party. His birthday is November and I need to plan this ASAP
my house is not an option the layout won’t work to have it plus we are starting to redo rooms.
My mom said I can use her house but would like to use it as a last resort but would still need ideas for that. Was thin of doing a game truck but again I really don’t want to do it at my parents and I really would want to try to keep everyone outside the house as much as possible.
So anyone have any suggestions. If you have cold weather birthday kids what are you doing?
I’m not planing on inviting the whole class like I usually do and I am hoping he slect few I do invite will have no issue coming. We really have no family living here anymore so a family only party would basically mean no party.
For those who think we should be doing very little right now, I know your opinion so no need to comment on why I Shouldn’t be having one.

Tbh I think your moms house seems like the best idea since you want it outside as much as possible.
Is there a pizza place or restaurant where you can use their outside area? We did that for my nieces sweet 16. She had a second dinner at a pizza place. They took their backyard and put a tent to rent our to host small parties. Then you can do some games etc.

How about a backyard movie party? You can rent or buy a large outdoor projector screens. You can do popcorn and s’mores. You might want to consider an outdoor heater.

Would you consider doing his party a few weeks before his birthday so it won't be as cold?
My DS got invited to an outdoor move party in 2 weeks so they said be prepared that it will be chilly but they are having everyone bring their own blankets and cushions or chairs to sit on.
You could rent a screen and possibly an outdoor heater like the poster above mentioned.
You will still have people in an out of your house to use the bathroom, wash hands etc.
I did a game truck last year bc I didn't want a lot of people in my house and had a tent set up on my driveway with food etc but people still found their way to congregate in the house.

I agree that maybe you can do it at the end of October or early November. While the outdoor movie sounds nice, I feel like you would feel the cold more because you're sitting. If the kids are running around a bit, they won't feel the cold as much. Depending on the age, maybe rent a bouncy house? Or maybe do some "minute to win it" games.
I like the idea of having it at a pizza place. If you do it early, like at 11 AM, the pizza place may not be as crowded and you can have it there. They can still play games at the pizzeria.

I agree I would try to bump it up a few weeks. Yesterday was beautiful and my family had dinner outside in the evening and it was very very chilly once the sun went down.
How old is he? Maybe like others said you can do it in an outdoor area at a pizzeria and then maybe do pumpkin decorating? That way everyone has their own space and their own stuff.

Thanks everyone. I am worried really about the cold!
And on LI you neve know how the weather will be. It could be snowing though I hate to think that it would be you never know.
I dont mind renting heaters and stuff but the uncertainty of the weather is what I worry about.
After I posted starting trying to see what I can find and i saw a post on a FB that a place that hosts parties and they have video game option.
If i Keep it at around 12 kids maxed each kid could really have their own gaming system to themselves and if not each kid would have their own remotes.
The place is supposedly big enough to spread everyone out and social distance. going to check it out this week.
Only downside is that they have suggested parents drop off but they will setup a Zoom meeting for parents to be able to watch what's going on!
Hopefully this place works out if not I will still be looking.

Agreed- we're not doing any birthday parties except immediate family members. Everyone I've spoken to is the same.

We are inviting my close friends kids, next door neighbor who we had a sleep over with over the summer and 2 school friends who I am pretty sure would have no issues With going. So I am not too concern about people not showing and honestly even if we ended up with only 7 kids that’s fine!
We don’t have family here to only have a family party it would only be us and my parents which we will do on his actual birthday.
Like I said I know there are people against doing things but we are not and most people I know aren’t.

Birthday party for November?
My DD is December so outside is out of the question. We're just going to have her 2 best friends from LI come over for pizza and cake. Honestly, we moved this year and things are so weird at school that I'm kind of relieved to not have to do a whole big production in a strange new place.
The outdoor movie idea is cute, though. I'd probably let DD do that if it weren't a ton of kids.

If the weather wasn’t so unpredictable I would do something all outside but it is and my luck it will snow that day. I was debating about doing it earlier but before I knew it it’s already October and it’s too late to plan now for a couple weeks.
Good thing is I did reach out to people we would invite to see if they would be ok with and indoor party and they are!

My daughters bday is in December. I am considering doing an ice skating “ party” or snow tubing. By party it will likely
just be a few friends ( 8-10) rather than the huge parties we always do. I’m
Comfortable with those outdoor activities but I still don’t like the idea of serving food bc that means masks come off. I will try to do it at a non new
Time and send kids home with an edible favor .

I think it depends what town you live in. I feel like people in my town have been socializing since June. My DD and DS have both been invited to several birthday parties and not just outdoor events.
I declined a party invite for my DD in June bc we till weren't comfortable.
It was a pool party and I saw pics on FB later. The girls were all hugging and one pic had them all doing a pyramid.
I think you have to know your group of kids that you are inviting.

Definitely this. DD went to a few birthday parties this summer.
Right before school started she got an invite to one where the mom said she was "Keeping it small" but i counted 14 kids on the invite. All were yes responses, nobody declined.
It was a pool party in the yard and they did tie dye shirts and masks for school and had cupcakes.

I agree. My DS went to several birthday parties recently. When I had his on Labor Day weekend I didn't get a single no either (which sucked because I let him invite some extras and they all came so it was more than I wanted).
The game place sounds fun and would be right up my son's alley. How old is your son? I wouldn't feel uncomfortable leaving my son now but he's 9.
You could always move the party up to October and do Nerf gun wars and a pinata. That's all they need to be happy.

We’ve been invited to a bunch too, but I have said no to all of them lol. I think I’m just being super cautious.

I personally would not do a bday party this year. The numbers are already inching up and as it gets colder, I would expect them to go higher. I would not want to potentially expose my parents to COVID by hosting a party at their house. And FWIW, I would not let my children attend a bday party either.

Birthday party for November?
My oldest DDs birthday is in November and we're going to Hershey Park for the weekend. It will be us, one of our family friends, my parents and my siblings.
I may be alone in my thought process but IMO November is crisp enough that it's ok to have the kids outside. Bounce houses, outdoor activities, etc and maybe a tent set up if you're comfortable with that. Other than that I'n not sure what's open and hosting large parties and who knows by that time what rules Cuomo changes.
ETA: Maybe you can do smores kits, pumpkin painting, etc. One year for DDs birthday we had a company come and all her friends did paintings....like an adult paint with wine gig but for kids. They set it up in the driveway and it was perfect. The kids had a blast.

Birthday party for November?
My daughters birthday is end of November and we probably will not be doing a birthday party. We may just do a play date with two of her friends and then we will be taking her (if things are still the same as now) to the American Dream mall in NJ to their waterpark
