Teacher question

I graduated college back in ‘05 with my degree in Elementary Education and was certified to teach k-5. I ended up substitute teaching for year after graduating and then I moved into a completely different career field. I’ve now been working in a school for the past few years part time (since my DD went to school full time) doing clerical/billing type of work. My boss suggested I look into getting a TA certification. Can someone give me info on what goes into getting a TA certificate? Also, how would I fbe able to get a copy of my initial teacher certification? Not sure I know where it is... Chat Icon

You can retake your exams and the workshops I believe to renew your license? Something worth looking into

why would he suggest a TA certificate when you have your k-5 teaching certificate? You should look into a teaching position

Definitely call TEACH at (518) 474-3901 and give them your information. They will have your certification on file and can tell you what you need to do to renew it

Re: Teacher question

ITA with the pp. Why would someone suggest you get TA certification when you have your Elementary ed degree and teaching certification? Makes no sense, and you are selling yourself short IMO.

Contact the state education department to investigate the status of your cert and what you need to do in order to get it permanent if it isn't already. Hopefully you didn't apply already and the clock ran out? I only know from my school psych cert, not teaching. Definitely call them to find out!
