Mandatory vaccines

I saw that Massachusetts is requiring flu vaccine and that there are a ton of vaccine related items on the upcoming docket for NYS that I am totally against and honestly frighten me.

So my question is, are vaccine requirements simply a state by state thing? Is there any chance of it ever becoming a federal thing and requires across all states?

Seriously considering a move based on the last year and pure disgust towards NY. I do not want my kids to start their lives here after college. But if this is something that is just going to follow us wherever we move? I’d like to know.

I tried google and it’s just article after article about the covid vaccine so figured maybe I’d get an answer here.

its def. state by state but more and more states are going towards mandatory vaccines.

i am ok with most vaccines but I dont think some need to be mandated. Like the one that supposedly helps prevent cervical cancer cant remember what its called but I dont see a need on why that has to be mandated

Same. DD got everything on schedule from the time she was born, but I am not a fan of the cervical cancer one and I never get a flu shot for myself.
I do give DD the flu shot because she is in school and it's a breeding ground. She did still get the flu even after having it, but it's known to be not that effective.
I will not be getting a Covid vaccine either

I’m ok with any vaccines, for now the vaccines on the market have very little side effects on kids/ adults and I have always vaccinated my kids. If a vaccine is for the greater good I’m all for it. I work in health care so if and when a vaccine for COVID comes out I will definitely get it. I would hold off a bit as research is done for my own children but I wouldn’t have a problem with my kids getting it

Re: Mandatory vaccines

It’s almost impossible to make vaccines mandatory on a federal level but I’ve learned to never say never. I mean I never in a million yrs would have thought NY legislators would even have a chance to go against the first amendment with the elimination of religious exemptions and they did last year in a matter of months, so...anything is possible. Having said that it’s imperative that more ppl become involve with things like that especially if they decide to move to a state where vaccines are not mandated. Call/write emails/meet with local legislators to show them how risky vaccines can be, share with them the information necessary to show them the other side of vaccines. We must be vocal so this topic of vaccines can stop being a taboo topic. I’m not saying ppl should not be vaccinated, what I’m saying is they should NOT be mandated. They pose a risk (and I think ppl on all sides can agree with that regardless of how big or small thoses risks are) and therefore they should not be mandated but optional. A parent should have full informed consent and then let them decide what’s best for their family. If there’s risk, there should always be choice.

These are the bills currently on the table waiting to be voted on...

A6564B/ S4244B- Allows children 14 and older to be vaccinated WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT.

A099- Allows FORCED vaccination and medical treatment. Allows DETAINMENT of individuals who are PERCEIVED health threats.

A973/ S3899A- Allows healthcare practitioners to administer ALL STD vaccines to MINORS starting at age 9 WITHOUT PARENTAL KNOWLEDGE or CONSENT.

A2316/ S2276- Mandates annual Flu vaccine for Daycare through age 18

S298A- Mandates Gardacil 9 for ALL children born on or after January 1, 2009.

A2841- Mandates reporting of adult vaccines to the registry WITHOUT CONSENT (and yes there is a new adult vaccine schedule being implemented)

A8635/ S6717- requires publication of immunization and exemption rates (so healthcare practitioners can be disciplined for low vaccination rate among their patients)

The HPV and flu vaccines were supposed to be voted on earlier this yr but then covid happened. With the new covid vaccine coming soon, bill A099 is extremely dangerous!

Same. I have a son and they're still trying to push the vaccine on boys to protect girls. I doubt I'll make him get it but I have a few years to do my own research on it first since he's only 10.

I'm required to get the flu shot b/c I work at a research university with an attached hospital, but that's mandated by work, not the government.

That is if the bills that support the HPV vaccine don’t pass. Let’s hope they don’t so it can still be up to the parent to give it to their child if that’s what they wish for. Senator Hoylman is the one behind one of those bills and he’s a HUGE supporter of vaccine mandates (he was the sponsor of the bill against religious exemptions that passed last yr). Parents should be bombarding him with calls/emails/visits along with all the other legislators that will be voting yes to the bill.

It protects males from head, neck throat cancer. A male can get HPV from engaging in oral sex. It is not just to protect the women,.

Agreed. It's likely the only way out of the horrors and restrictions of the past few months.
