Would you attend a wedding in Aug? Its local. Its extended family and we are not close.

Not if you don't want to go

But I feel that about all events, lol. It's just easier to say no now

Where is the wedding at? In a catering hall or a house? Just curious as we have to cancel my nieces sweet 16 in in a few weeks in NJ because Murphy won't freaking open indoor dining.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Just politely decline. I would attend my nieces if we were able to have it.

Well if you don’t get along, you have a great excuse to skip it.

I would go if there were people I wanted to see, but I’m personally very lax with seeing people. Is it at a catering hall/restaurant or backyard? I’d feel better if it was at a restaurant or hall bc they have to follow guidelines....someone’s backyard you don’t know what measures they are taking.

Same. I'm not a fan of weddings so this could be a good excuse to bow out.
But if I wanted to go, I would go.

No.

You would most likely have to keep a mask on the whole time and I wouldn't be able to do that for 4+ hours straight.

At some point it has to come off, and that would feel weird to me not knowing if I was exposed since the majority of people would most likely be people I haven't been around.

I personally would go. But, if you're not comfortable, or just don't want to go, then say no. I think people really are all over the map in terms of comfort with social gatherings right now. So, no one should really get upset if someone is being more or less conservative.

ETA: I saw something on FB where the bride and groom put bracelets on a table for the guests to wear. Red was for "I'm social distancing." Yellow was "I'll talk, but no touching.' Green was "I'll do hugs and high-fives."

How many people are going? I thought right now they were limited to 50, have to wear a mask the whole time, no dancing and no hanging at the bar. If that was the case, I would probably go if I liked the person. 50 people is 5 tables. That can be spread REALLY far apart in a traditional catering hall.

Side note: I really feel so bad for brides right now. I would have been hysterical.

Would depend on the size of the venue and number of people that will be there. Would also depend on who I think I would be seated with and if seating will allow for enough distancing. If they are still doing traditional table of 8-10 ppl per table, then no, I wouldn't. If there will be less ppl per table (at least 50 % less) and tables will be spread out, I would probably go.

I am not sure but I know my entire family has been super relax during this and DH and I have not been since we live in the same house as his parents. I just can't get over the fear of getting them sick.

I am not sure what the rules are on LI. I am kind of shocked that the wedding is still happening.

Re: wedding - Yes or No

I would probably go as I don’t go to many weddings as the next generation are not old enough.

Catering halls are 50 people and no dancing.

Not sure why you would have to wear a mask though as just like restaurants you don’t have to have one on at the table.

If you are sitting at the table you can take it off.
You can't eat and drink in a mask.
Just like in a restaurant

Murphy is such an @ss. Lol. He’s killing his whole state because he’s following NYC. I can’t stand him.

Hmm if I had known it was only 50 people but again most would be strangers so not sure I would feel comfortable.

You aren't close, you won't really know anyone and you aren't comfortable because of covid.. because of this you shouldn't go. I don't see anything wrong with declining under normal circumstances because you aren't close and with this climate they can't be surprised.

If we were able to have my nieces sweet 16, we expected people to decline, it would be very small and intimate. My sister wasn't going to fault anyone for saying no.
