How will these protests end?
I am genuinely asking - what will cause these protests to end? It's not like the murder of George Floyd can be taken back. And it's not like someone can come out and say "okay, racism is over we can all go home now." What will it take for people to stop protesting? I just don't understand how it can ever end....

How will these protests end?
I think it will just fizzle out over time. If people weren't unemployed I think it would have ended much faster but there are a lot of people with too much time on their hands.

I agree. The crowds will eventually get less and less, until it is over. Maybe with the city starting Phase 1 on Monday, more people will be at work. DiBlasio said up to 400,000 people will return to work on Monday.

I agree they usually just fizzle out. But let’s keep doing whatever we can to have REAL CHANGE within the police force. There can’t be multiple verified complaints against an officer and have them still be out there working. That has got to end.
You can’t make someone not be racist. You can try and help them understand, but in the end, you can’t MAKE anyone do anything they don’t want to. Fine.
At least let’s take their power away. If that jerkoff didn’t have a badge and gun and tried that shit - he would have had his ass kicked.
Sign petitions, email officials on a daily/weekly basis. Keep going. Keep trying. And vote!!! Locally most importantly and go up from there.
Let’s be the change we all hope for. It gets better with each passing generation but there is still much work to do. And we can do it peacefully

this is what we need to do.
the protesting can only go on for so long. if we seriously want to see change, we need to make change.
when a lot of the news started to be reported that COVID-19 was affecting people of color more than whites... combined with seeing how many people cannot work from home, it got me thinking about what am i doing with what i have.
add this to the mix, and i am dedicating myself to donating more money to charities and organizations that do the work outside of the limelight.

Like others have said, it will fizzle out.
However, one of the things that can help it end is if people worried less about pushing back against the protesters and doing some of the work.
I am not talking about things that take hours. I understand that not everyone might want to go to a protest. But there are a million different things large and small that can be done and several resources available on this site.
People are praying and crying and shouting for THIS time to be different so let's make it so and then maybe "the protests will end."

When the next thing comes along. Just like Covid, I said once there is a terrorist attack, no one will remember Covid. It did turn out bigger though then I thought but there is always something around the bend for you to pay attention to and forget what you were just worried about.

I agree with all of this.
I think much of it also has to do with other 3 cops not being arrested. I am hoping that they are just gathering information so they can make the arrests, and are refraining from commenting so it doesnt fuckup the investigation...

This isn’t going to end well... there will be lives and freedoms lost. We all need to VOTE like our lives depend on it because they do.

That's laughable. A) Without an economy, no one can survive. B) Covid is almost NILL at this point C) The Governor was offered help since his state was in shambles the last few nights. The Governor decides when he needs the help of the military and then would ask for it.
The only blame belongs on the governor and mayor in NY. The only one being a dictator is Cuomo.

I know I am in the minority when I say that I LOVE the way Cuomo has stepped up during this time. He has been strict yes, but that is exactly the reason WHY Covid is "nill" in NY.
