Gardening

Does anyone garden?

What’s your plan for this year?

So far I have:

Blueberries
Strawberries
Blackberries (all already established)

Apples (hopefully the pests don’t get them this year)
Peaches (adding 3 trees)

Peas (2 varieties)
Green beans
Tomatoes (3 varieties)
Zucchini
Cucumbers
Yellow squash
Pink pumpkins
Asparagus
Peppers
Edamame
Loofah (new this year)
Black eyed peas (new this year)

I’m trying to figure out if there’s anything else I’d like to add

Re: Gardening

Wow, your garden sounds so beautiful.

I have tried so many things. I had luck with a million tomatoes a few years ago. A ton of cucumbers the year after that.

Then after that; not much at all.

We have so much room in our yard with garden boxes that DH made; but I feel I can't grow much. The soil we have is very sandy so we have to buy a ton of dirt/soil.

Currently, I have a raspberry bush that is so huge; but it is all leaves. Maybe I get 3 raspberries the whole summer.

My fig trees, same thing. Although i think I am going to transplant my fig trees to against the house for more warmth. I think that is what it needs. I love figs! Chat Icon

Re: Gardening

Last year I did zucchini and romaine lettuce.

This year I'm going to attempt some fresh basil and rosemary along with the zucchini and romaine lettuce.

I’m not sure how aesthetically beautiful it is, but it does generally produce pretty well lol.

I haven’t had good luck with raspberries.

For soil, we do compost (I think I’m going to get a second barrel this year), and we top the garden with leaves/grass clippings that eventually turns into soil.

We plant probably 20 trees a year-I’m basically trying to have a forest in my backyard lol
