Side by side refrigerator with big freezer space
Can anyone recommend a refrigerator with a big freezer? I have only had one on the smaller size due to not being able to fit bigger but after redoing kitchen, I can buy what I want. I need lots of freezer space

We looked into this a lot when we renovated the kitchen because I wanted a side by side one too. Unless you are going to spring for one of those $$$$$ huge models (which are almost twice the size of a regular unit), we found that the top/bottom (french door style) refrigerators just had more freezer space. I was resistant to it but now after 3 years I still love it. It is definitely easier to fit things and more importantly to FIND things. Plus the wider refrigerator part is great for wider dishes. Just a thought.

I agree with this. We looked at refrigerators for so long and the one thing I really needed was more freezer space. The side by side ones just didn't have enough. We decided on a French door one and have had it since last July and not once have I complained that there's not enough room in the freezer. I love it.

Side by side refrigerator with big freezer space
You can buy separate fridge/freezer, then it can be as big as you want. Sub zero does this, also Thermador. We are renovating our kitchen and I wanted a side by side. Due to limitations as to where the ice maker could be (we live in an apartment with restrictions on where “wet” utilities can go), we are getting two separate units.

The bottom freezer refrigerator have same freezer room storage as the french. I love mine.

I agree with everyone else. Go with French door. It gives a lot of freezer space - though things tend to get lost because it’s piled on top of each other. But for me, we have a separate regular fridge in basement with a freezer and a freezer chest (don’t ask lol) so I don’t keep the kitchen freezer completely packed. Just with basics and still, i feel like it’s a scavenger hunt sometimes. But - it’s way bigger than a side by side

Hmm i dont know. I had a massive side by side in my old house which i loved. In my new house i have the french doors with the freezer on the bottom. I feel like i fit less in the bottom freezer and it is always a mess bc everything is stacked. I just got a second fridge for my basement like Phillis and just put all my overflow in there now. Much better.

We had a side by side and the freezer was super small. Nothing fit without a fight. Now we have a traditional (freezer up top) but when we redo our kitchen in one million years I'd go for freezer on the bottom. Though the one big plus about freezer up top is our DD (almost 3) can help herself to juice and I don't have to get up.

Our old fridge was a side by side and the freezer was awful. So small
The french doors up top and freezer on the bottom make a world of difference. In both fridge space AND freezer space

I had a side-by-side with the ice maker on the door - that freed up a LOT of space in the freezer. It was an LG, similar to this one: fridge
HOWEVER - that crapped out after 10 years and we replaced it with this french door that is AMAZING bc the freezer has drawers. There is no black hole of freezer food. I am in LUST with this appliance.
Best fridge ever

I feel like I go in the freezer way less than I go in the fridge. And the fridge with freezer on bottom is all within standing reach. And for ice, I use the door unless I need a ton from the second ice maker inside the freezer.
