Update in op. How much do you pay for internet only
We got our cable bill for $237! I can’t stand it anymore. We are going to switch to streaming now. How much do you pay for internet only? What’s my cheapest option? I’m in Suffolk
UPDATE for anyone that was curious. Optimum said $74 for just internet. With the phone line it’s 100. This is in Brookhaven

That price is insane!
I can’t really help you exactly, but is it possible that you could go to T-mobile and get a bundle deal? Where I am, I get internet, cable, landline phone with international calls for about 100 a month. I go through T-mobile. It might be something to check out. I don’t know if they do that over there, though.

We have Fios and pay $55/month for just internet. We switched to streaming only a few months ago and haven’t looked back. We had a fair price for cable + internet through Fios, but wanted to cut back on the amount of crap we would watch so once our contract was up, we cut cable.

Optimum is now charging a $50 service fee if you only have internet well... because they are crooks  but in all seriousness you get the idea

Internet and phone 70 per month through optimum. I actually tried cancelling the phone a few months ago and when I called it’s was actually more expensive to cancel the phone
We have Hulu with live tv for 39.99 and Netflix for 9.99 and prime video
ETA it’s the higher speed internet

We pay:
internet: $60 using Optimum
Landline: $5 a month using Magic Jack
Tv: $59 using Playstation Vue (we also have amazon prime, netflix and a broken firestick).
best choice we made was making the switch. Just so mad at myself for dragging my feet and waiting so long!

I can't be bothered with the streaming crap and trying to find out which services carry the shows I watch. We just suck it up and pay cable like $240 a month.

I wonder if that’s the trick to get cheaper internet? To keep the phone? Because it’s a big difference that some are paying 100 for internet and some pay 70.

If you end up going down to just internet, let me know what optimum ends up charging. Id love to find out what I've heard is wrong.

How much do you pay for internet only
Optimum/Altice - $50/month for the high speed internet.
We have Hulu TV to watch live stuff, which is another $40, but honestly we watch so little live TV I'm not sure it's worth it. I haven't missed cable for a second. Whenever I'd look for something, nothing was ever on or I'd find something but our Fios package wouldn't include that channel. It got to the point that we just couldn't justify the price anymore, and we haven't looked back (though I'm sure soon the streaming services will start increasing their prices).

My husband did all the negotiating, so I'm not totally sure how he got the price. He talked to a sales guy - one of the guys that walks around the neighborhood knocking on doors. That guy was able to give him a credit on the installation, but I'm not sure if he actually got the monthly price down much. I know we used all our own equipment, so there was no equipment rental on that, and we also did it back in May so maybe prices have changed.
We haven't had any problems. We stream, download, use multiple devices, etc.
I'm also in Eastern Nassau near their headquarters, so maybe that makes it cheaper?

I like it but buyer beware. The live function doesn’t work on my Apple TV. I love I it on my fire stick. We got it so DH can watch live football and basketball and in the summer we will cancel it and go back to the 7.99 Hulu cause we can still get all the network shows. We had sling tv last year and the app for that was terrible...

We have the PS Vue streaming TV and they have all sorts of sports packages. Definitely worth looking into!

We moved off the Island and pay $99 for internet only - I say internet only but it's really a landline and internet because you can't get just internet here - some FCC regulations nonsense... plus there is no competition so if I want internet this is what I have to do.
Cable here is INSANE. I laugh of the days I would complain about the Town of Brookhaven and Optimum... I'd give anything to get that back...it's that bad here.
Anyway, we have a landline, but no phone even hooked up to it. 
Also, because of our location streaming options were weird. We wanted all local network stations, AMC, and Disney. To find all of those left us with ONLY one option and that was YouTubeTV. It's been good, but I didn't realize I couldn't watch it on the Firestick, so we had to purchase Google Chromecast in order to view YTTV from our phones to our TVs.
We also have always had Prime, Netflix, and just this past Black Friday we went with the Hulu 99 cents a month for a year deal they had.
