Anyone here flown Frontier from Islip? How was your experience? I just booked them for a trip I had scheduled at the end of June because I saw the rates were not bad at all. Usually I am forced to fly Spirit out of LGA to this particular destination and last time it was a nightmare. I am just hoping it is on time with no issues.....

I have flown them lots of times in the last year. I have family in Florida. I just flown them a few weeks ago. Most of the time I haven't had a problem. A few times there were minor delays. Two times it was cancelled. If I count each of my roundtrip flights both ways, I have probably flown them about 12 flights, so not bad. I swear by them, as I go down often for family. Southwest has gotten ridiculously expensive unless you book way in advance.

Frontier from Islip

I have flown them a few times with no issues until flyingback fromTampa thanksgiving weekend. The plane needed a new tire. We were delayed for hrs. We were lucky though because they don’t have tons of flights if they are cancelled you will have difficulty getting a new flight

Re: Frontier from Islip

Just flew with them last wee to West Palm Beach, and had a great experience. The flight was cheap, Im not going to lie, the seats are not as comfortable, but for the price and for a 3 hour flight, I would book it again

Re: Frontier from Islip

My SIL just did and vowed she will never do it again. Her flight was delayed, delayed then finally cancelled the week before Thanksgiving as she was trying to visit my IL in West Palm Beach. The only flight they could rebook her on was 3 days later. She ended up driving to JFK and flying out on Delta later that evening.

Ugh that totally stinks!!! I have heard it's hit or miss with Frontier. And it stinks because they have limited flights (kind of like Southwest), so if something gets cancelled, you are basically screwed. As much as I hate Delta, I do feel "safer" flying with them, in knowing that they have great customer service and the ability to get you on another flight pretty quickly

We used them in August to fly to Disney. We had minor delays both ways. It's truly no frills--the seats don't recline, they're barely padded, and the tray tables are teeny tiny. But...the flights were like $29 so it's hard to beat. Not sure if I would fly them again or not.

Re: Frontier from Islip

NOPE.

My in laws generously took us to Disney for their anniversary over a long holiday weekend and booked Southwest going and Frontier coming home.

A few weeks later she got an email saying the flight was changed to a day earlier. Sunday instead of Monday. Sorry not sorry.

It was a short trip as it was and she didn't want it to be shorter, so she scrambled to get 16 of us on a SW flight that didn't get in until 10 on a school night because by then there weren't many choices.

I would only fly them if it was over the summer (I'm a teacher) and I didn't have to get where I had to be by any specific time or day. I would also need a hotel that I can cancel up to day of arrival, no non refundable tickets to anything, etc. Not worth it. You can't depend on them.

A close friend went to a conference in Chicago, was supposed to fly home on a Sunday. They cancelled the flight and said there wouldn’t be another one until Wednesday. So he stayed the few extra days, and then his plane was delayed five hours and he almost didn’t make it home for another night.

I would not use them for a vacation that have already spent a lot of time/money into planning.

We had a flat tire on our JetBlue flight recently and were delayed for hours as well - we got money in our travel bank as part of the passenger bill of rights it was so horrible.

That being said - Frontier can’t be worse than Spirit!

At least they gave you credit w/ Jet Blue. We were delayed on Spirit last year for hours and they didn't even give us free drinks.
