Rash after fever- Coxsackie? Or something else?

Hi, my daughter had fevers (ranging from 101-103) for about 24 hours then the following day said her throat hurt and I looked in her mouth and saw red prickly dots and brought her to the doctor (rapid strep was negative but they started antibiotics because assumed it was a strep).
The next morning she woke up with a few pimple like dots around her nose and lips and a few prickly red dots on the top of her feet. I made a doctor appointment and by the time we got there the dots began on the tops (not palms) of her hands. They stoped antibiotics and said it is Coxsackie.
The rash is now up her legs to her knees and up her arms but NOT on her palms or bottom of her feet.

I have heard everyone can experience symptoms different but it almost doesn't sound like Coxsackie to me. Did anyone else have a child get it like this? Or another rash like illness that sounds like this.

My daughter feels fine otherwise now but the rash is all over.

Thanks for any help.

We're going through something very similar right now. Both my dd's caught a fever and red sore throat from their cousin. Dd1 had a negative strep test so they didn't test dd2. Dd1 was pretty much fine after less than a day. Yesterday dd2's fever was mostly gone but I noticed some red pimply spots on her face. Nothing else except some possible spots in her throat but it's had to get a good look. I'm assuming coxsackie. My niece had some spots yesterday on just her back and she's been fever free since tuesday already. The only other time I've experienced it was years ago with dd1 and she only had spots on her legs and one in her mouth from what I remember. I know it can get really bad but knock on wood I've only experienced mild cases.

Same here. DD had it twice and it was the same pattern both times... super high fever then rash. Hope LO is feeling better soon! Chat Icon

Thanks guys. I was just confused because the rash is not on her palms or bottom of feet that it might be something else .

DD got them in random spots, too. She had none in her mouth or the bottom of her feet, but she had them all over her hands, face, belly, and butt.

Yup, my daughter didn’t have any on her palms or soles of her feet. Mostly on her arms, butt and back of her thighs. We went to the doctor and it was confirmed.

It sounds exactly like Coxsackie...roseola doesn't give you an oral rash, I don't think.
