We did JFK to Hong Kong and it was 15 hours
That would be my longest nonstop flight
Have also done jfk to Dubai 13 hours

And have done maldives which is not direct but 3 flights consisting of 28 hours total time to get to the destination

NY to LA probably my longest non-stop. We went to Hawaii for our HM but at the time they did not have a nonstop option- we had a layover in Salt Lake City. Although I would have preferred to fly nonstop.

We were going to Italy, but from JFK to Paris was about 8 hours. Not as bad as others, but we took the red eye and one kid screamed the ENTIRE flight. Wasn't even a baby. The kid was about 5'ish and her brother kept annoying her so she screamed so much.

Wouldn't be so bad except for that part. This was for our 1 year anniv before kids. Surprised I had kids after that flight. LOL

18 hrs to JoBurg, South Africa but it touched down in Dakar Senegal to let some people off (I had to stay on).
Did that flight by myself but it wasn't too bad. Slept and watched movies...this was before Netflix LOL

I think LAX to New Zealand was about 14 hrs...did that one with hubby and it's key to et extra seats for sleeping unless you can sleep in a seated position for a long time.

That flight (Jo’burg to Atlanta) is miserable. I think we stopped to re-fuel at Cape Verde. I didn’t have to get off the plane, but it was still miserable.

For a non-stop flight I did Atlanta to South Africa. That was 18 hours.

I'm going to SA in a few months also and I keep searching for "tips for long flights" basically to keep my sanity.......That will be 15.

Oh they must have sped up then! I took that flight about 18 years ago.

Where are you flying into? If I may make a suggestion, get some Rand before you go. For some reason, whenever I flew into Jo’burg (it was my hub for other trips a few times), there was no ATM. You will save a lot of money by getting it beforehand.

Be prepared for a long wait when going through immigration. I’m talking like an hour or so. Perhaps you will have better luck.

Flying to Johannesburg. And then during our stay; there will be intermittent trips between cities. Thank you for the tip....will do.

FM me if you have any other questions! I’ve been to that region 2 times and my ex-bf was South African.

about 12 hours to Dubai and I think Tahiti was the same as well. I would do it again, I love Emirates lol.

I’ve done that flight from NY to Tahiti non-stop. I was on my way to Sydney. I think it was Air Tahiti. Luckily, the flight was empty and I was able to get a whole row to myself and sleep. Tahiti definitely has an interesting “airport”.

Yep - Air Tahiti. I did it 12 yrs ago and it was when they had started doing direct flights there. The airport is interesting. It reminded me when I flew to Punta Cana the first time 18 yrs ago - the airport was one hut.

We did the flight from Tahiti to Moorea and there was literally a curtain separating the pilot from us. My husband was dying since he is scared of flying. And he had the curtain open and was talking to usChat Icon Chat Icon

I know that open hut made me think is this really an airport? I just got myself an Orangina and tried to practice my French in the 3 shops they had there. But I can still remember stepping off the plane and was like is this a real airport? A 747 landed here and I am sitting in a hut with no windows. It was really strange. I have been twice or three times.

I especially loved the frangipani flowers they placed in the toilets. Chat Icon

JFK to Korea... 14 hours. with 2 young kids. :-O both my boys are adopted from there so we took the older one with us when we adopted our younger son. THANK GOD my oldest is an iPad addict HAHAHA between that and the 2 meals and sleeping a little bit we survived. and we booked a flight home at night, so our new son slept most of the way home, too Chat Icon

do it again? hmm... can't say i'm in a rush to.... but we might at some point when they're older so we can actually have time to tour a little bit and not just be focused on all the adoption stuff that we needed to do.

11.5 hours from LAX to Fiji...had to fly 6 hours to LA first and then transfer. Then travel on puddle jumpers and cars and boats to actually get to our destination Chat Icon.

I would do it again, DH would not. He doesn't like flying to begin with.

My husband does JFK to Perth Australia every 3 1/2 weeks. 24 hours of flying plus a 3 hour layover in Abu Dhabi. Then gets on a puddle jumper in perth and goes another hour. Chat Icon I don't know how he does it.
