experience gifts
with my birthday coming this weekend, the conversation of gifts came up. i told SO that i no longer want us to buy each other "STUFF." i want us to celebrate with experiences. HE LOVED THE IDEA.
those of you who have given and/or received experience gifts, what have been your favorites?
i'd like to come up with a small, go-to list to get us started.

concert or theater tickets are our big things.
a nice dinner and cocktails out.
sometimes even a vacation is our "gift" to one another.

I was gifted a Chocolate Tour of NYC .. it is a walking tour which was a great time ... it was from Groupon
I also just got this year an Italian food tour of lower manhattan but have yet to go on it

Surprise day
At least one event and a meal. Nothing is given away until you walk into the place.
We used to do this for each other. Was a lot of fun. Would purposely take a long way to keep the suspense.
Example:
Rented bikes in nyc
Lunch at planned restaurant
Ended day at brewery
Show tickets
Meal
After dinner drinks
Ice skating
Dinner
Circus

DH and I do this... we buy what we want when we want it usually...and i love the memories of the experiences!
We'll do one big vacation each year and then some smaller weekend trips.
Show tickets every now and again... and this year DH is giving me a sea plane ride over my favorite lake upstate for my birthday.

OMG... i was poking around the internet for ideas and discovered that there is bungee jumping in our back yard (almost).
we live up against the hills to the east of Los Angeles. there is a national park in the hills and a "bridge to nowhere"... the road was never completed.
there is a company that does bungee jumping off the bridge.
if george bush senior could jump out of a perfectly good plane for this 80th birthday, i could jump off a bridge for my 45th lol.
hell, i ran a marathon for my 40th... what was i thinking

lol not exactly... but this sounds like fun and it's in our back yard. the mountain/national park is about a 10 minute drive from our front door. and SO has talked about going to the bridge to nowhere for a while... he used to go there as a kid.
but with SO's health issues, i'm going to wait on this particular adventure until we get the all-clear from his Dr. lol
