Star Wars Last Jedi - spoilers
Anyone see it yet? I just saw it. I kept hearing there were major spoilers but there was nothing earth shattering. Maybe that's why I feel a little let down and not as excited as I was after the last one. It was still a great movie but some of the forced plot lines (romance between Fynn and the girl) felt out of place. But I'd totally be down for a romance between Rey and Poe!

Star Wars Last Jedi - spoilers
It definitely was no Rogue One, but I liked it. I felt there were too many side stories going on: Finn and the Silver Storm trooper, Finn romance, Rei's multiple internal conflicts,power struggle between Kylo Ren and the redhead, etc.

I think that's what it was for me - why I felt like it wasn't as good as I would have hoped. There were too many unnecessary stories. Like the casino one - finding the code breaker. They spent a lot of time on that whole story and then they were captured before they got the chance to shut it down - and the rebels had to figure out another way to get away. I get that it brought some things into place (the double cross of the code breaker, the romance for Finn, the stable boy wanting to be a Rebel, etc) but it seems like it was just out of no where and could have happened in a more relevant way.
I gotta say - Laura Dern looked amazing in that dress! She was stunning!

I saw it but never pay much mind to the movies when my husband makes me go with him. He thinks people might have been surprised by the appearance of Yoda and Luke's death?
You're right, Leia looked preposterous floating!

It's not based on anything, but I kinda got the feeling that maybe they still are people that are important or that we might know. Ben doesn't know everyone in the Jedi universe so maybe to him they're nobodies, but they could secretly be someone important.
Unless I was reading that scene incorrectly and it was just to tell us (and Rey) that the force can be in anyone and not passed down.

We saw it last weekend and we thought it was very cheesy. The last 2 were great (coming me, not a Star Wars fan lol). My husbdna huge fan, thought cheesy as well. Leia gloating was the most ridiculous thing ever. When they killed that guy snopes? The one that controlled kylo. The kids between Finn and the girl. So so stupid. Wasn’t a fan of this one.

This is what I think that scene and revelation was supposed to be about.
I agree... I enjoyed it for what it was but didn't love it. I don't buy at all that Luke Skywalker would act the way he did throughout most of the movie, and neither did Mark Hammill as he shared in some articles. It wasn't true to his character. I found Leia's whole demeanor throughout it to be very blah too and lacking in any energy (I get that she's older but I feel like she acted older than she was).
The scene where Rey and Kylo Ren were fighting side by side/back to back was pretty awesome. I really hoped he was going to turn to the good side and that could be the ending, it just doesn't make much sense to me to have him conflicted and leaning toward good and then turn back to pure evil a second later. He didn't kill Snokes to take over as the supreme leader, he killed him in that moment because of Rey. And then a second later he goes back to a power grab.
I do think and hope that they are starting down the road of a Rey/Poe romance.

I agree about the fight between Rey and Ben - great scene. I felt the turn around for Ben was a little too quick, but he's emotionally immature and I could see him lashing out when Rey turned him down. Him going back to the dark was like a child that didn't get his way and had a temper tantrum.
I read a tweet about the casino scene (which annoyed me bc of its irrelevance). They suggested that the scene was a way to bring Finn onto the Rebellion's side. Up to that point he was just interested in getting away from the Empire then wanting to find Rey (always seemed to be running away). The casino scene showed him the excess of the arms dealers and the poor of those that serve under them - and it lit the fire in him to fight.

Totally unrelated but did i spot justin theroux at the tables? Why was he there and then was not in the movie. Totally disappointed by that lol
Also has it not been revealed that rey and ben are twins (like luke and leah?). I guess maybe that was just my assumption from the get go.

I thought it was Justin, too! I assumed he would be the expert they were looking for but I guess he just wanted a cameo.
According to the movie - Rey's parents were just random junk merchants that sold Rey for more money. I would think that Leia would know if she had twins and would have figured it out at some point during all the times there were together.

I thought maybe they were cousins- Leia had Ben & Luke father Rey, but didn't know it.
I also felt like they through that "your parents are nobody" but in there because everyone is expecting a reveal.
I also fell asleep in the middle, so you may not want to take too much stock in my opinion.

The whole casino scene was pointless. I don’t get the Rey and ren connection. According to dh, Star Wars expert, lol, they are brother and sister. Leia had twins and a single boy.
I liked it but i don’t like they way they did some scenes. Leia floating out in space was ridiculous.

that was what happened in the books.
but i'm pretty sure i read that they are not following the book canon in the movies, so none of that is relevant.

I've never read the books so I don't know what happened. I only know what was revealed in the movies - they never said anything about Leia having kids other than Ben.
I still feel like Rey's parents are someone important but then how would Ben and Rey both feel like her parents were just scavengers? I don't think it could be Leia or anyone else we've met or Ben and Rey would have felt that. So even if her parents are Jedi, I would they'd have to be someone that aren't known yet.
