Its totally inappropriate.
It doesn't matter if you are personally offended or not - but its ridiculous to think that someone in a supervisory position would gift such a thing to their subordinates. There are literally thousands of other gift cards he could have chosen.

Given the current climate, I think its hilarious that he would give that to his female employees. Is he a jokester? Clueless? Asked his teenaged daughter for ideas?
I'm not sure how I would react if my boss gave me that.

Uh yeah.....and when you go directly to the VS website, it's ladies in their bras and underwear. Highly inappropriate whether you shop there or not.

Yeah, inappropriate. I wouldn't be offended really either, but I think this crosses the line of what is appropriate at work, and what isn't. I used to work in a male dominated office. We got gifts or gift cards from Tiffany's each year. I would have been floored if I was given a VS gift card

I think it's very inappropriate. VS is known for lingerie/bras, not the perfumes/lounge wear even though they do sell that..
I would not want my boss giving me a g/c to that store

My DH is a boss. Years back, he wanted me to help him shop for his coworkers and suggested a VS gift card for the women, I was like...LOL! You can't do that! What's next, "So, what did you pick out?'"  He totally was NOT being a creep...just being a clueless man.
However, in today's climate, that just seems like taking clueless to the next level

That's what probably happened here, too. He is probably just clueless, but it is not the best idea.
Our old (male) boss never gave anything; our new (female) boss gave us all (mostly women- 2 men) Amazon gift cards last year, which was a great idea, b/c they sell everything.
A department store would also work.

C'mon... you know he wasn't giving a VS card thinking you're going there to buy sweatpants. Sure, they sell other stuff, but lingerie is the first thing everyone thinks of when they think of Vicky's.
It's totally inappropriate. Yeah, I'd still use it and wouldn't be offended, especially since the OP seems to know the nature of the guy and that there were no bad intentions, but that doesn't mean it's an appropriate gift.

Highly inappropriate. I work in finance in a male
Dominated sector - especially in this climate today that was a very poor choice. And I’m pretty desensitized to this from working with men for the past 20 years. Curious to know what the men received.

That was my first guess. It would be different if it was an exchange of gifts and I was the only one getting a VS gc, but he did that for all the women, so IMO, it was only one store he thought it was good.

My first thought was that he's using it as a way to harass one women, while covering his ass. If she makes an accusation, it looks innocent because he gave one to every woman. JMO of course.

Obviously not just the one gesture alone. It can be used as an excuse to open an inappropriate dialogue with one of the women or to exacerbate an already inappropriate relationship.

It's a gift card, not a bra. Wouldn't bother me and I'd graciously accept. I would only be put off if he made a creepy comment, asked what I bought with it or only gave the GC to me. I'm guessing it was innocent and he was just thinking like a guy, trying to give a gift card to a place most women would shop at.
