How do you make your desserts looks so nice? Whenever I frost/glaze/ice it always looks a mess!

As with anything, practice makes you better and believe me..........I still have a long way to go myself. lol But also the right tools are essential, they make the job so much easier.
When it comes to frosting, glaze, and ganache an important consideration is the consistency. If you're frosting is too thick and solid it will be extremely difficult to spread. With a glaze, if it's too runny it will just sheet right off of your cake. With a ganache, depending on how long you let it sit or if you use it right away it will behave completely differently.
For Ganache:
*To use as a smooth pourable fudge sauce, use right away
*To use as a pourable cake glaze, allow to cool for 10-15 minutes
*To use as a thick fudge filling, allow to cool for 1-2 hours
*To use as a frosting for cakes/cupcakes, allow to cool completely
