I'd say 80% of the theatres here are advance reserve seating so you know where you sit before you buy. No rushing to the movies to wait in stupidly long lines and push and shove. I don't miss those days. Plus it's nice to know where you want to sit.

I won't ever go to a movie again that I cannot reserve my assigned seat ahead of time. No rush to get there. Even better I'll never have to deal with those people that come right as the movie is starting and asking everyone to shift down one so they can sit in the perfect seats.

Yesssss
It's well worth the extra money.

ACTUALLY..
It's the same price if not a few cents cheaper here to get reserve seating vs herd seating. Dumb right?

Basically $10 a ticket for most places no matter what.

I pay extra for Alamo Drafthouse because I can eat and drink at my seat (liquor, wine or beer) and dang the food is awesome! But it's only an extra buck so meh.

It's the same price here too but since my Regal theater won't let you buy tickets in advance direct on their website, i have to go through Fandango or another 3rd party site and they charge a damn convenience fee

Nell - out of curiosity I just looked on fandango for ronkonoma for the new fast and furious movie that opens April 14 and it's available to buy.

So it's true for fandango too that opening weekend tickets are avail well in advance.

Yes probably. Truth is I didn't look for the Beauty and the Beast tickets until today.
Didn't even think to because I had no idea that opening weekend tickets were available early.
Now that I do, I will do that going forward.

The problem is too - you can't buy that far in advance.
So if I wanted to say get really good seats and buy for next month, you can't.

They only release the seats a few days out
Annoying

I bought for Ronkonkoma back in February for March show last night and chose my seats.

The theater also adds shows every day based on crowds so keep checking back!

Yes now I know that for movies like this you can buy in advance. I had no idea and to be honest wasn't really that interested in seeing it the first weekend anyway.
But now that it's open, you can't buy for next weekend yet.

We are going to a bday party at island 16 on the 1st so dd is happy with that. I'm just happy I get to see a movie in a theatre. I'm cheap and will only take dd to islip or sayville for $5 movies.

Re: Beauty & The Beast

While the recliner seats and reserved seats are nice and comfy, its become too stressful to go to the movies! The number of seats in the theaters are far less so you have to buy far in advance. Its like planning to go to a Broadway show! I remember the good old days where you could be sitting around on a Friday and say "wanna go to the movies tonight?" And then just GO! But that is no more. Now you have to sit at your computer the second tixx are available, as if you are buying concert tixx or something. I just wish there were more regular theaters left.

Re: Beauty & The Beast

For those who saw it, what age range do you think is appropriate? My almost 7 year old wants to go but I'm not sure if I should bring my 3 1/2 year old. Is the beast really scary?

There are a few scary parts, I don't think it's appropriate for a 3.5 year old to be honest.

I've never had to do that. Maybe because we go to the local non chain cinema. It has non reclining chairs, but it's only $9 admission for adults and the popcorn, candy and soda combo is only $6. Love it!

You're definitely not the only one. While I'm sure it's ok & I could probably stay awake through it, there are so many other movies I'd rather see first (not movies in theaters now but I mean just in general). I still really want to see Lion. Plus I've got a bunch of dvd's I haven't watched yet.
