Did people use the registry? We are having twin girls, and I already know that a few people bought all clothes. Of course these are gifts and anything they get is generous, but I have so much anxiety about how much 2 babies need, and I wonder if I should be using my coupons and picking things off the registry here and there while they're on sale because I will end up with 900 crinoline dresses from the shower and no diaper pail or bottles or tub, KWIM?

Relatives already bought car seats and I bought all the furniture with a co-sleeper on the way. I literally had a nightmare last night about the babies coming early and having no place to change them or bath them. I woke up and ordered the diaper changing pad lol.

How many people are coming or invited to your shower? Almost every thing I could need was bought from my registry, had about 50 or 60people at my shower .

I think about 50 invited and 35-40 coming.

Absolutely! I had about 50 people at my shower and just about every single person bought off my registry. I also got a ton of clothes. Since you're having girls expect to get lots of clothes!! People go crazy when it's a girl because the clothes are so darn cute!!
Dont buy anything else I'm sure after your shower you will be all set!!

Edit to add if I remember correctly the stores usually give you a completion discount for you to buy the rest of the things you need off your registry.

Yes. I got All my big stuff and tons of clothes. I had about 50-60 people and people who didn't come still bought off my registry after dd was born.

I got tons off my registry with probably no more than 40 at my shower. Lots of people will buy clothes in addition to a gift from the registry. Hopefully your are having the shower pretty early and you'll have time to assess what you have and need. Also, dh and I both got cash gifts from coworkers, gift cards from a few random people both before ands right after having our first. I would be patient, there will always be another sale.

As for all the clothes, I've learned to return and exchange things much more now that I have kids. After my shower I sorted all the clothes to see what was what. Pretty much anything I had a gift receipt for or anything easy to tell where it was from went back. Most of it I just exchanged for different sizes bc I had enough 3 month clothes to dress an army of babies. I also had to get some newborn clothes bc no one gifted that.

We got a lot of stuff off our registry. After our shower, we picked up whatever else we needed. We returned a lot of things and had gift cards so our out of pocket expense was minimal.

I had a small shower, only about 10 people. My son was born early and before my shower took place. We got most of the stuff we needed from the registry. But the day we picked him up (7 weeks old) we did have to stop at the store to buy someplace for him to sleep.

Given the circumstances I think people were very nervous to buy gifts. Also we had gotten A LOT of gift cards at the shower, when he was born and when he came home. That helped us buy things as we needed. Which was great because we had no space at the time to store all the things we needed later.

almost every gift i got was from my registry. we were very fortunate. there were very few things that we received that weren't. we are team green though so i feel like people are less inclined to buy clothes

My sister had twins and she received most of her necessities at her shower. She did get a lot of clothes but also received most of her big things. I would hold off until after your shower and use the completion discount to get the rest of the necessities. You don't have to wait to receive the coupon in the mail, once you're ready to use it you can ask for it at the registry desk.

Definitely! I got almost everything I needed from the shower(s) I had. It was fantastic. Of course there was a hearty mix of clothes in there as well. People can't help but buy a ton of tiny little clothes. But that was great, too, especially since my mom and sister bought clothes of all sizes. I have clothes for DD up until 24 months!

I got most of what I registered for at my shower. I'm sure it helped that we didn't know what we were having so I only got a few gender neutral outfits as gifts. I'd wait to buy things after your shower. I think most people will use the registry.

People mostly stuck to the registry and I also ended up with a few gift cards that helped me grab the last few items that weren't purchased.

Just had my twins- if you want FM me to review my registry. I had about 50 people at my shower. We literally got EVERYTHING we needed. My parents and aunt and uncle bought the infant car seats and cribs and changing table and stroller. My inlaws bought the convertable car seats. My brother bought their bedding for Christmas and my other aunt bought the glider. Everything else- pack and play, swings bouncers, exersaucers and all other gear bought by those that attended our shower. After my shower I only had left the monitor which my coworkers bought and threw me a little shower. Everyone and I mean everyone has bought us clothes. I purchased on my own the bottle sterilizer, humidifier, mirrors for the car, sun shades, a few outfits, a few packs of bottles and that's pretty much it. I maybe spent $300 out of my own pocket. I bought their bath stuff (tub, mat, water temp thing) from Kohl's when I had a store credit and like 5 coupons. I paid nothing after my credit. Mostly everyone stuck to our registry. I got gift cards on top of it and a ton of clothing. I added very few clothing items to our registry so people knew our style and sizes we were looking for. In the end, I have more clothes for them than I can imagine. I made sure to scale down my registry with the help of others on here to be sure I got the essentials and it worked perfectly.

Re: BTDT (Shower)

Yes people will definitely buy off the registry. A lot of people wait until the last minute though.

Unfortunately, one of the downsides of knowing the gender is that you will get more clothes than you need, want or could ever use at your shower.

I have twin girls and I registered. I think I had about 35-40 ppl at my shower and got a TON of stuff all off of my registry with the exception of clothes.
Sooo much clothes. Honestly, there is little you can do about it. It's just going to happen. People can't resist cute baby girl clothes. LOL. I didn't register for any clothes for this reason. I knew it wouldn't matter.
I personally went and got plain white preemie and newborn onesies and a few other preemie and NB items because no one got me anything smaller than 3 months and my girls were on the smaller side.

This is comforting. Thank you! In truth, I have been buying a lot of the essentials (cribs & furniture, some newborn diapers, bouncer seats, changing pad, a few sleepers) because I am afraid these girls will come early and we'll be unprepared. I started having bad dreams lol but it's good to know that I can still count on the shower to help us get ready. I am so overwhelmed by all the stuff they need, especially planning to go out on leave with no salary for over a year!

Not sure who is throwing your shower but my mom did a diaper raffle. (she mentioned it in the invitation). Guests who brought diapers were given a raffle ticket and at some point during the shower I picked a random ticket and they got a prize (GC to target). I got so many packs/boxes of diapers that I think it lasted a few months.

Re: BTDT (Shower)

I would always suggest a registry. We had a shower for our DS 5 years ago and the registry was wiped clean. This time around we had a sprinkle for our DD and I wasn't planning on making a registry. But I am glad I did. A lot of people used it.

My mom did a diaper raffle for me too. I don't anticipate buying diapers until they are in size 2s. For the raffle it was diapers or wipes or both

Re: BTDT (Shower)

When is your shower? I did a registry but didn't have a shower. Literally everything was bought for me by family and co-workers about 2-3 weeks before DS was born. All that was left was small items so if you still have some time I wouldn't worry just yet. Some people just procrastinate!
