ISO a support group for wives with disabled husbands

It's been a long time since I've been on this site with all that my family has been through. 3 years ago my husband was injured pretty bad in a car accident, I was pregnant with our third child at the time. He has had numerous surgeries and he is still having a lot of problems. We have 3 kids, 8, 7 and almost 2.5. My younger 2 have developmental challenges and are getting a lot of help, but I'm definitely a special needs mom. As much as I've been so happy and grateful for how we are keeping our chins up, I have realized through this my life consists of no friends, very little contact with my family, I have no gal pals, no girls nights or weekends. I know people feel bad and I'm done with that, I know they might not even know what to say to me anymore, but I feel like I have no idea how to socialize. My husband and I don't date night because he can't really get out, no alone time trips anywhere, no family vacations. It's not his fault and my marriage isn't crumbling, just I'm sad and it's exhausting to always try to be happy and positive. I go to therapy, but I need to meet other women like me with young kids and living spouses they are married and committed to, who are disabled but not elderly either. Does such a thing exist? I'm not sure what else to do or look for to find friends and enjoy myself a bit.

I remember you and think of you. Have you tried to reach out to local hospitals, your husband's physician, or any of the therapists who might run support groups? I wish you well.hugs.

Don't know if a support group exists. My husband was paralyzed 6 months after our 2nd DD was born. Its defiantly a different way of life and hard when there is no one to vent to.

I've been in a similar situation but we didn't have kids. I know how difficult it can be on a marriage.
