I'm amazed
Dd had her tonsils and adenoids removed last Mon. Prior to the surgery we were concerned with her speech she always talked but many.people could not understand her. In the last 2 months it had gotten to the point we were having difficulty deciphering what she was saying. Dr said she probably had hearing issues that were not being properly diagnosed due to the size of her adenoids and tonsils.
It's like we have a completely different child. The last 3 days I've been amazed at the words coming out of her mouth. Her uncle watched her yesterday and he dropped her off and made a comment about how he could now understand her.
I'm floored. We are still having her evaluated to see if she needs help and she keeps saying everything is very loud.

That's so great!
My Ds had his adnoids removed and tubes put in at almost 5 years old due to speech issues.
He immediately said everything was louder!
He also amazed himself by saying words he knew he couldn't say correctly before the surgery!

I am so happy to read this! I was apprehensive about my daughter getting surgery May 11th but opted to move forward. I was curious as to what type of improvement we may see with her speech and no one really answered my question!

How did you find out your DC needed adenoids removed? I looked it up, but my DD doesn't have any of the symptoms I saw. We wonder if she hears clearly because of her speech, but she passed the first part of her hearing test. We have to go back for another test.

My DS failed hearing tests and had chronic fluid (no infections)
The ent put a tiny tube into his nose to look at them and could see they were huge!

Dd snores like a trucker and would gasp in her sleep. Her tonsils have always been massive due to genetics and when we went to the ent they checked both

I'm amazed
Having my adenoids was a life changing experience for me
I had severe speech issues in elementary school and worked with a therapist which helped. I had what the pediatrician always told me were sinus infections all the time and basically could never breath out of my nose. Everyone was constantly asking if I had a cold because I sounded stuffy. My mom always asked if it was something more like adenoids and they said no. I changed to a regular doctor when I was older than I should have and at the very first physical they commented on my adenoids. I was sent to an ENT and had the surgery a month later. They told me they were the largest they've ever seen. At 19 I could finally breath lol and no more snoring!
