Flowerfield does a beautiful wedding, very unique location and they renovated last year.

I also like events that I have been to at the Harbor Club at Prime and the Bourne Mansion.

Re: opinion on wedding venue

I've been to all three and Westbury Manor was definitely my favorite.

I'm not sure how expensive it is, but we recently went to a wedding at De Seversky Mansion and it was gorgeous!

I got married at the Woodbury CC. Granted it was 7 years ago. Everything was great. Only issue I had that day was some confusion regarding my DJ and his equipment (we had the upstairs room). Also, our BM who was supposed to be there was just sick, and the lady they stuck with me drove me CRAZY LOL. Other then that the place, food and overall service was perfect.

Have you looked at:

North Ritz Club
Georgio's
and East Wind
Bridgeview

All had great food!

We had our wedding at Sand Castle in Franklin Square. To be honest, the venue wasn't completely my taste but the package and service was amazing. We got soooooooo much. It's a little pricey depending on the time of year. But not insane.

I had my wedding at the Carltun almost 10 years ago. The food was amazing, people still talk about some of the dishes from cocktail hour. The venue is beautiful, but with an old elegant feel. One thing that bothered us was the chairs, they were wood and fabric and looked very worn. Turns out they were ordering new ones right before the wedding. My point being, if you see something like that, speak up for what you are paying there you should love it. They were very expensive, but also very accommodating with all of our requests no matter how small. Good luck!

Eta: it was pouring rain on my wedding day. There were a few outdoor pictures I really wanted. They actually had Maintence staff take a shop vac and vacuum up some of the puddles on the patio to take our pictures. The bridal attendant also followed me around outside with a white tablecloth to put my dress down on so it wouldn't get wet. I'm not sure if they do this everywhere, but they certainly went above and beyond to get us what we wanted.

Woodbury country club.. Mm I wasn't a fan. It just seemed sort of old and traditional and very very dark. I just remember thinking how dark everything was. Maybe it was just the wedding.

Have you looked into any nyc places? What type of feel are you looking for?

the room I would be in @ woodbury CC has been re done. Its very neutral with grays and whites. I LOVE the room and the possibility of an outdoor cocktail and vienesse hour (weather permitting) would be ideal.

with westbury manor i KNOW i will be getting the BEST service and the food is good, but i HATE the room.

the INN is $$ but I love the room and their staff looks polished, which is also important. The only feedback I got was that the food wasnt good.

the venue in NYC that i want wants a minimum of 107k... Chat Icon

I really liked the food at the Inn! Been to 2 weddings there and numerous parties. It's always been good.

The times I have been to Westbury Manor it's been very nice but i agree its a little dark and dated - but FYI there are always a million bees outdoors in the garden. Multiple times I have been there and same issue.

Woodbury CC - went to one wedding there. It was fine nothing to write home about. Reminded me of the crest hollow.

opinion on wedding venue

If you're a true foodie chances are the 90% of the reception halls you go to will not meet your standards. Some obviously have better food than others but probably not the quality that you are used too.

My cousin is getting married in a few months. She ended up renting a loft in Dumbo (26 bridge) and catering the food separately from a restaurant she loves. This is another way you can go. It's a little more time consuming though because you have to find servers, decorations, etc.

beautiful venue, food was good. I just remember there not being a lot of food at cocktail hour - at least not compared to what you get at most other LI weddings which granted may be overboard!

Did you look at Land's End in Sayville?

I was married and have been to several weddings at Westbury Manor. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the service. Mr. Scotto himself came to our wedding to check on things. The food was good but it is wedding good. The one at Eisenhower Park is beautiful and the food is amazing.

A wedding is what you make of it. Pick wherever you and your soon to be DH will be happy and fit in your budget.

Westbury manor is where I wanted my wedding. We had too many guests for the little room and too little for the big room. We ended up at the fox hollow. So my vote between what you asked is the westbury manor.

Like you, I'm Greek and I've had events and been to quite a few of the catering halls around here.

I got married at the Inn in 2011. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm surprised to hear negatives about the food. I thought it was great and seriously a ridiculously amout of it. How many people are you having? It is pricey but if you're not having a lot of people maybe you can do a smaller room and save some $ by not having it in the ballroom.

I had my daughter's baptism at Woodbury Country Club. It was fine food/service-wise. Nothing out of this world. The grounds are super pretty and we got beautiful pictures outside.

I've been to Westbury, but it's been a while. It's nice but would probably be my last choice because of the heavy and dark decor as others have mentioned.

The Carltun is really nice but expensive and you don't get as much for your $$ as you do with other halls. You have to pay a lot for extras that are standard at other places. I had my bridal shower at the restaurant, the Palm Court. Lol

I would also suggest the DeServesky Mansion and look at The Royalton too.

I also looked into the Harbor Club for my son's baptism and it's more $$ than we want to spend. Along the same lines, look at H on the Harbor in Port Washington. Also too expensive for the baptism but I think it fits your criteria. We are doing my son's baptism at the Coral House, which has been redone and is really nice. Doesn't fit for what you're looking for though.

Can you tell I've planned and been to a lot?! Chat Icon

I got married at the Inn. I am a picky b!tch. My review on LIW was pulled because I tore apart my florist, limo company and invitation place.

The Inn was PHENOMENAL. I went in with a list of demands and they met every one and went above and beyond. I cannot say enough nice things. It was 1 wedding at a time when I got married but I think that changed but WM and Woodbury are multiple weddings as well.

You can FM me if you want details. It's expensive but even DH said afterwards that we got more than we paid for.

ETA: The food was great and there was a ton of it. You can customize your menu. My dad requested a pork chop option at the tasting and the chef whipped it up on the spot no questions asked (and it was awesome). Was it the best meal I've ever had? No, but wedding food generally isn't.

We got married at Westbury Manor as did several of members of our families and we love it there. You get a lot IMO.

If we could have afforded it I would have gotten married at The Carltun! One of the best weddings I went to. Our good friends got married there and they went all out. It was amazing. They had an after hours with a full pig being roasted, cigar rollers, vodka ice bar etc. The reception was even more over the top.

I've been to many weddings on Long Island including two of those places and the only food I really remember is the really really good or really really bad. That being said lands end had amazing food. Every other place I feel is just wedding food it's ok. I did like the outdoor cocktail hour at westbury manor.

Re: opinion on wedding venue

We have been to two wedding at westbury manor & they were so much fun, the grounds were very pretty & the food was plentiful. We liked it so much we went to price our wedding. They told us to come anytime to speak with someone. We met with someone who seemed like a used car salesman. He took us on a tour & had us enter the ballroom while a reception was about to start. He held off the wedding party from entering so that we could peek inside. I didn't know this but my mom who was standing in the back off to the side told me later in the car. There was no way we were booking after that. My cousin got married at woodbury cc & the ballroom was pretty I remember there being a wall of windows.

I looked at carltun but it was too expensive for us. Everything previous posters said about it sounds incredible though.

You should check out my reception hall in roslyn. Cocktail hour was outside & inside. They willingly played the CD DH made to be played during CH. One wedding at a time & they bent over backwards for me- my only complaint is that they were too helpful. I don't like being fussed over-lol. Food was awesome!

I got married at The Carltun, yes it was $$$ but well worth every penny; I wouldn't have changed a thing. I'm dying to go to a wedding there to experience it again, as a guest this time! We looked at many places and heard from several vendors that The Carltun is the he best venue on the island. I loved the bridal suite (enormous) and the service was impeccable. Our guests still talk about what a great time they had. The food is incredible and they have so much to offer as far as extras. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions or want to see pics. Good luck!

Regarding The Carltun-

Ive never attended a wedding at the Carltun but had my baby shower there a year ago. They did a phenominal job!!! The food and staff were great. My guests still rave about it to this day.

Also, out of the three you mentioned, i prefer the Westbury Manor with NHP Inn being second. Another place i would suggest (i know you mentioned close friends/family) that would be appropriate for a smaller wedding is One if by land in the city. I had my first shower there and have since had two friends hold events there and all has been amazing! Check it out- price isnt terrible.

Congrats! I would go with the Inn at NHP. My sister got married there and it was one of the best cocktail hours I've been to.
