Question?
I've been lurking from the sidelines and the last few days really have me  - maybe it's the snow? The full moon? Heck, I don't have a clue. But it's not just here, it's facebook too.
Why is it such a crime for people to have an opinion that you don't agree with? Is it me or has anyone else seen the claws come out lately? And for what? To tell someone their opinions are wrong? To jump down their throat for feeling a certain way? How does that work?
I tend to always avoid confontation. And after talking with someone about something they feel I should support, I still don't. I was basically told my opinion was wrong. I just don't get it.
I like blue. You don't. I'm wrong for liking it since you don't? That is crazy right?

I'm watching this last post blow up like crazy. And for what? A difference of opinion? These boards are great in a lot of ways but then there's this. The nasty back and forth. There's a way to have a difference in opinion and have a discussion without turning into what we are seeing.
Which is why I'm keeping out of it.

I feel like it's just the way it is. How many times have we all heard - 'you can't discuss Religion or Politics'...This site or FB is no different. Everyone thinks they're right and will stop at nothing to try and convince the other person of that. That's just how the world is.

There is no problem to have people have a difference of opinions, that is what is great about people, the diversity.
Anyone is really entitled to tell someone what they feel, but that doesn't necessarily preclude you from being an azzhole by doing it.
For example..someone like wearing fur coats.
should this person have to be told by other people on this board that your are a murderer, you should be ashamed of liking to wear fur?
OK, yes, it is your right have your own opinion and there is being a jerk. Sometimes, it is a fine line.

my question is why do you care what others think. so what if someone flat out said that your opinion is wrong? if you feel that your opinion is right then that's all that matters. let them think they are right and you can think you are right.
and someone posted about the trump thread and I fell it might be about me. who cares if I think anyone who really wants to see trump president should be ashamed of themselves? I didn't specially call out anyone about it people might have chose take it personal and engage in a conversation with me but that's their choice. they have every right to feel like they do just like I have every right to feel they way I do. I think the biggest issue is people take things way to personal especially since this is an internet basically full of strangers.

It's the same for certain topics. It's bring the lurker a and the ones who found out about the post in a fb group out

I think it depends on the definition of 'opinion'. It's when that opinion crosses over into facts and racism then it's no longer an opinion.
Example:
A. I think the world is flat.
B. No it's not.

It is scary the way people just choose to ignore facts. Since this is an election year it's more apparent than ever.

For most things, other people's opinions shouldn't matter at all. However, in politics, other people's opinion DOES matter. A lot, potentially. If a candidate that you despise gets elected, a lot of policies can get enacted that can affect someone directly.
Not an excuse to get mean and vicious, but definitely a reason to be concerned about someone's opinion.
Anytime an opinion starts affecting other people, there's going to be strong feedback.
BTW, I also like blue...

Exactly. I also find that people just posture a lot of opinion without offering any facts, backup, unless it's completely anecdotal or circumstantial. You can't debate or talk to people who just say the same thing over and again and say it's their opinion.

I sent an FM to one person who posted on that thread voicing my support for that person's opinion because everyone on that thread starting saying she was "attacking" this person just because she didn't agree w/ her posts.
A few hours after I sent that FM, LIF admins deleted my account and when I tried to log on, it said "user name has been disabled. sorry.". No reason given. I have been posting since 2009-2010. I am pretty much in agreement that there are favorites on here and if you disagree with those people, the repercussions aren't pretty.

Yes it is. For the record, the person I sent the FM to is named "Ineedababynow". I didn't sent any FMs to anyone else and didn't even post on that thread because I knew it was created purely to  and I don't engage in that type of gossip. If you FM me, I will be happy to disclose my old user name.

Because people lack basic respect these days and don't know how to have a civil debate. No one should be saying "If you think this than you feel this way." but then in the same sentence say, "Don't take it personal." Clearly some people weren't taught how to play nicely with others. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and should be able to voice it without others telling them they are wrong. Didn't your moms ever teach you if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all?

honestly everyone needs to IMO grow thicker skin and not take everything so personal. its the INTERNET people not real life!

That's weird? I guess they don't give warnings?!?
Did u try asking them the reasons why they canceled ur account?

LIF's terms of service allows them to disable/delete any account without any warning. Even so, I still sent a message on the "Contact LIF" button below and of course, zero response. Which is fine because frankly, most of my posts were on the Home board anyway.
If you find this user name disabled/deleted, its likely because LIF deleted this one too. At this point, the whole thing screams Big Brother.

they def. can tell if its the same person by IP address. also I am sure not to many got deleted the same day
