3 year olds, and xmas wishlists

Has anyone with a 3 year old had luck with getting a real wishlist for Santa from your child? Every time we show Dd a toysrus ad or take her to the toy store and ask her what she wants to ask Santa for, she always just names the first thing she sees, no matter what it is. And lately, any time a toy commercial is on tv, which is constantly this time of year , She says she wants that, But the majority of the stuff she sees is either not for her age, or I know she would never actually play with it. So at this age, do you, or did you, bother with making a wishlist and trying to get what your LO asked for, or did you mostly just get them what you think they will like? I think DH and I will probably end up getting her some stuff we think she will like, and a couple of the things she asked for, even if we don't know if she'll really like it,just so she can feel like Santa was listening.

My daughter who just turned 3 does the same thing. When she sees a commercial she will say "I want that" but it could be anything. I just got stuff I think she would like and then I'll show her a commercial for it or an ad and say "do you want to ask Santa for that?". She usually says yes. I'll show her a few times so hopefully it will stick so when she opens it on Christmas she is getting what she "wants" lol. There have been a few toys that she asked for on her own that I got for her but only like 2 things.

We've been trying to casually show her things we got her, if we pass by them in the store, but some of the things that I thought She would love and be So excited about, she didn't really seem too interested in. Chat Icon I don't know if it's just because there were so many other things for her to look at in the toy aisle, but she has me second guessing what we got her.

Mine asks for every single thing she sees on TV. Whoever a few things stick out to her and she asks for them out of the blue or told Santa when we visited him. Aqua beads, a Cinderella doll with a twirling skirt and a frozen watch with "pink diamonds in it" which magically I found!

My dd is 3.5 and yes, she will say the first thing random thing that pops out of her head. And she'll also say yes to everything so I'm at a loss. I just picked up stuff I think she'd enjoy. At her preschool, they did a Christmas list... On hers she said she wants a snowman... Lol. I'm guessing they must've read a book or did an activity with snowmen that day Chat Icon

Dd was in the boat of asking for the first thing she sees so I got her what I thought she'd like as always. Then all of a sudden a week or two ago out of nowhere she's asking for jessie, buzz, and bullseye dolls from toy story! Ummm, I'm beyond done shopping for her already! Sil got her jessie and I'm considering getting one of the other two from Santa but I don't know. And ive been discussing that Santa has lots of kids to bring presents to so he'll probably only bring her one.

Lol.
Last year at 2.5 dd opened her big gift which was in a totally unmarked box. She had as huge smile and said "A box! Just what I always wanted! "

I was setting up a reward chart for her recently and asked what a good present would be and she immediately burst out with that she could be a grown up so her baby could come out of her tummy! Chat Icon

When DS 1 was 3, he also wanted everything he saw on commercials (still does at almost 6).

I would ask him randomly here and there what he wanted for Christmas and he always said the same thing so I made sure he got that, and I kind of winged the rest.

DS 2 is 3 this year and hasn't asked for much specifically but, I made a list based on his tastes. I think I did a good job - since he has since asked for most of the things I suggested to family members (things that aren't advertised on TV).

My DS will be 3 in March and while I did make up the majority of his wish list there are a few things that he will consistently tell you he wants for Xmas. For about 2-3 months he's been asking for a snake, dinosaur, and shark...............rubber Animal Planet ones he fell in love with a while back AND a microphone and guitar. Chat Icon I made sure to get them all since those were the things he specifically asked for.

She's almost 4... This year, yes.
Last year, we followed her general interests for a theme.

My 3 1/2 year old always says he wants "a lot of toys" lol. Helpful! There were a few items in the TRU catalog that really caught his eye. But if you ask him what he wants, he points to every....single....toy in the catalog.

I can't always go by his word because he will pick out the entire toy catalog! There are only two toys he consistently asked for. I got him one of the toys for Christmas and I am hoping to get the other for his birthday in March.
I know DS loves superheroes and star wars so I got him a lot of toys geared towards his theme for everything else.

My DD turned 3 last month and all I've been able to get out of her is that she wants a choo choo train and oranges and pears. Chat Icon

I got her a Thomas train set and a few other things I know she'll like. And I'm going to put oranges and pears in her stocking as a goof.
