EMBRACING CHANGE

WEEKEND!!
i will be going to my first fall festival tomorrow... woo hoo.
i know it will be NOTHING like a fall festival in the north east, but it's something.
i plan to eat all the food and ride the slide. i also want to do a little shopping.
we'll also be hitting a "car swap meet" (whatever that is) on sunday.
and i plan to knit all the things.
what will you be doing this weekend.

I don't have any exciting plans  .
Going to a Brazilian BBQ place for dinner tonight. Tomorrow and Sunday I have nothing planned.
I do have work to do, though.  Now that the semester started this week, I'll be busy almost every weekend until the end of the semester (February). Yuck.

Bfs grandmother passed away yesterday and bf is having back surgery as we speak...
I'll be hosting a brunch tomorrow and Sunday for visitors since he is recovering at my place
I went to Williams Sonoma instead of waiting it the waiting area and bought a cast iron skillet to use this weekend.

Nothing exciting.
I finally got released from rehab today, heading home after being in the hospital for two weeks.
Just want to settle into my own environment, sleep in my own bed.

Wellllllll I'm excited because this weekend is my manfriend's birthday -- he always teases when I call him my boyfriend because, at 45 years old, he feels he's a little old to be referred to as boyfriend  Anyway, lol, his birthday is Sunday and let me tell you SOMETHING! I went all out!
Last year was our first birthday of his as a couple so last October we went to Prime for dinner and I had custom cuff-links made for him since he wears a suit to work everyday. Since he's a police officer I got the thin blue line cuff-links made from black titanium with the dark blue enamel through the center. HE LOVED them. Wears them every single day. All the guys at work commented on them. (He doesn't wear the uniform in his current role as boss so that's why they were a good gift)... So, that was a score but this year I have to outdo myself!
A few months back I was walking through an antique and collectible shop and they had a bunch of Civil War crap (lol) and he is a HUGE Civil War buff. Loves history. Goes to Gettysburg every year. Hanging on a display was a LETTER -- an ORIGINAL letter - written by General William Tecumseh Sherman! The Union leader who accepted the surrender from the South to end the Civil War... AKA someone Pete LOVES. So, fine, I look and it is the letter, a picture of the general, and a certificate authenticating the item. They have the actual letter under lock and key in a safe. I'm like, I think this is his birthday gift this year.
So, I go to the guy and after some SERIOUS haggling on price I got him down $200 --- and since the document is worth a lot more than what they were asking, I got a GREAT deal. I'm THRILLED. I took it to my frame guy - new mounting, all new framing and it's wrapped and ready to give to him Sunday when we celebrate his birthday. I'm so FLIPPING excited.
To me, it's just an 145 year old piece of paper.
But to him - it's a really, really cool collector's item he will cherish forever.

WEEKEND!!
Taking DS to a fall festival while DH works, then passing him off to DH because I have an event to assist at for work. Sunday I hope we're doing NOTHING. DH has been working a freelance gig and we're like two ships passing in the night lately.

We have a surprise 30th birthday tonight.
Tomorrow were going to go pumpkin picking since it finally will fell like fall. Than I think were going decorate some pumpkins and I'm going to make some soup and chili.

Friday - 4 year(!) wedding anniversary. Dinner at Besito and drinks afterward.
Saturday - pediatrician for both kids; breakfast at the diner. Wedding with my mom. DH is staying home with the kiddos 
Sunday - to be determined.
