High risk Ob gyn

My friend is pregnant with twins, 21 weeks and she just found out she has an incompetent cervix. She had a procedure done this morning to essentially plug her cervix and keep those babies in.

In this process though she isn't happy with her Ob gyn and is looking for a new, high risk one. Delivering at LIJ and hopefully experience with IC and twins.

Anybody have any recs?

Tia!

Re: High risk Ob gyn

My doctor is one of the top high risk in the city. If she decides that the city is feasible - Dr Robin Kalish. Amazing.

Thank you everyone. City isn't possible. She's been put on bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy.

I had this at 26 weeks with my girls. I was too late with cerclage. I was seeing a high risk already for other issues (he's just my regular ob and happens to be high risk). I was also seeing a perinatologist too. Dr Kofinas. They put me on meds and I held them in til 36 weeks.

I can not recommend Dr. Kofinas enough...IMO, he's a genius! Not too scare you but I lost my twins at 21 weeks in 2013. It was a different situation - they found my shortened cervix at 19 weeks but it was too low to do a cerclage. I was put on progesterone and bed rest but went into labor 2 weeks later.

I still kick myself for not going to Dr. Kofinas back then, but you live and learn. I am now a patient of Dr. K and I love him. I'm 28 weeks pregnant now and I truly feel that I owe it all to him!

I was hoping you would respond bc similar situations. Unfort Kofinas is too far, he's in Brooklyn right?

She had a procedure done yesterday to plug her sort of speak and she's on progesterone and bed rest until the end of her pregnancy.

He's also in Garden City, that's where I see him.

I had a cerclage placed this time around at 16 weeks but I was only on bed rest for 10 days. I saw Kofinas last night and my cervix is still going strong!

The Dr. Kofinas in Brooklyn is a fertility specialist, the one in Garden City is the high risk doc. They are brothers.

Re: High risk Ob gyn

Dr. Kofinas was recommended to me by a friend who was high risk. I have not been classified as high risk, but I had a loss at 27 weeks in December.

So should I call his office first? I know he does not deliver, so who are the doctors that he works with who do deliver?

I need to make a 10 week appt. very soon and could use the help.

Thanks!
