Pap smear while pregnant ?

Sorry may be a silly question...

I am due for my annual pap and about 12 wks pregnant with twins...OB says totally safe and fine to do at next visit which is next week.,,course I was googling and people have horror stories...

Am I being silly? Is this routine?

I had a pap at my first visit at 8 weeks.

My OB wanted to do one at 8 weeks but I was on crinone and told her I wished her luck finding my cervix with that hot mess.

PS, no pap for me. I do think its normal though!

I didn't get one with either pregnancy bc with DD1, I had just gotten one the month before getting pregnant and with DD2, I had just gotten one shortly after DD1 was born (9 months earlier).

I had one with Hailey. But I had one in October so I didn't need one this time

With #1 I did have a pap at my very first appointment (at 8wks). With my next pregnancy, I had my first appointment at 6wks and also had a pap done then, but ended up losing that pregnancy (no relation to the pap). So I would say it's fairly routine to do them early in pregnancy. HOWEVER, my new OB has put off giving me one. We talked about it at my first appointment and she said she'd rather hold off since I do have a history with early miscarriages. I think her concern was more of how you can bleed after them (much like how you can bleed after sex) and she knew I didn't need THAT after everything I'd been through prior to this pregnancy. (I was also on pelvic rest for the first trimester). I'm honestly not sure if there were any other concerns other than the possibility of spotting, we didn't really go too much into it. I just agreed with her that I'd rather wait until I was out of 1st tri. I'm 17wks now, and we haven't talked about it again, so I'm not sure when we will. My last pap was exactly 2 yrs ago. I think that's the timeframe isn't it? I'm sure I'll have it done at some point in this pregnancy.

My first pregnancy I had one done at my 8 week visit, but I was due, with this pregnancy I had just done one the month before so we skipped it.

For my first, I had my pap at 8 weeks (it was around when I was due for one). I just had one last September, so I didn't get one during this pregnancy.

I had one done at 4 weeks because I hadn't had one in many years and the doctor wanted it done right away.

Yes had one at 9 week with DD. had some spotting after.

For the most part it's routine especially if it's been a year since your last one.

i was actually nervous about this too and also made a post about this months ago. The doc had me go in the week after I called telling them that I thought i was pregnant. It was fine...not issues.
