Ugh. Thanks for your honesty. Our issue is really just genetics. Dh and I are carriers for cystic fibrosis, and if we have a child naturally, there is a 1 in 4 chance of having a sick baby. I think I will do consults with some of the other dr's spoken about on this board too. Thanks

Good idea.

Do a few consults & feel out the lab. Your needs will be different that others here: PGD.

Don't worry too much about who your OB reccs. Our RE and OB do not recc each other (even though they are in the same BUILDING). Sometimes old arguments/personality/drama/medical systems arrangements get in the way. Funny thing is, a LARGE amount of patients I know who live in my area use both (and then go on to use our peds group, also not one of either's reccs).

Good luck & hope you have a short journey!

FWIW, Friends of ours are also both carriers of CF. She did unfortunately go thru 3 losses but wound up with 2 healthy children naturally. No IVF. She was never told she needed it and never considered it.

Some people just aren't willing to take that chance. I know I wouldn't. My situation is not exactly the same, but similar, and we are considering using donor eggs because PGD is no longer an option for us, and we aren't willing to proceed with such a high risk of loss (obviously nothing is 100%). If PGD is an option for OP, then it's a miracle technology. My uncle lost 2 babies to CF, and it's not something I would personally gamble with.

Exactly! I will do everything in my power to try and have a healthy baby. Not for me, but for the child.
