Pregnant - IUD
Can this happen? Just so curious as we are done! Do you know anyone who got preganant with an IUD?

I have one and I was super concerned about this. My doctor said she has never seen one ever. I have never heard of a person having it happen either (in real life). It was worth the chance to me because it is the only birth control that worked with my medical needs.

I know one person who this happened to, ended up ectopic. But, I know a LOT of other people who have it and never experienced that. I also know a woman who was on the pill and used a condom (yes at the same time) and got pregnant, so go figure.

Stories like this make me want to get my tubes tied.
And then you hear stories about people who's tubal didn't work and end up pregnant.
So, hysterectomy? Is that 100% effective?

It can happen but the odds are extremely low. The failure rate is a little lower for Mirena than Paraguard but both are greater than 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. I do not know anyone who became pregnant with an IUD.

I have one friend who got pregnant while using an IUD. It was removed with her daughter during her c-section.

yes, it can slip to the cervix and preg can happen.
I had a patient last week who was preg and has the para guard.
