I know this doesn't technically mean anything BUT I find it so disgusting as a society the way we fawn over these nothing celebrities like they are God. Kanye is such a despicable, self involved douche who does nothing more than sing a few, IMO, $hit songs. Not sure why he needs to be "recognized" and "rewarded" for that. There are so many more deserving, good, wonderful people in the world than this a$$hole.

Is it just me, or did his speech seem incoherent, at best? And it mostly took the tone of "See? I told everyone I'm amazing!" I guess he thinks an honorary degree for which he probably did no actual work proves how smart he is

I truly hope he does not begin referring to himself as Dr. West. An honorary doctorate has no real significance and does not entitle one to call him/herself 'Doctor.'
There is a woman who is well known in anti-Common Core circles who insists on referring to herself as "Dr" even though all she has is an honorary doctorate from a school no one's heard of. For some reason people are afraid to call her on it.

I just came on to post this exact same thing.
Can you imagine the people who put in YEARS and YEARS of hard work, time, money and sacrifice to EARN their PhD, how they must feel about this?
It's a huge slap in the face to them.
What a reflection of the values in this country.
No wonder we are so hated.
It's just a shame.

Its publicity for the school. Lots of schools do it - its not Harvard, its an art school, and to many, Kanye is seen as an innovative artist.
