nope, always loved the name :) named my son christian in 2013 in spite of the whole 50 shades thing.... it's a fad. 10 years from now it won't even be a reference on people's radars.

Yep, this.
Never read the book, no desire to see the movie.
This name makes me think of a boy I had a crush on in high school.
ETA: My co-worker just named her son Christian, not because of 50 Shades.

jumping in on this convo....what about Dakota for a girl? Will people think it is because of Dakota Johnson??? We are team green and have a boy name but are struggling with a unique girl name. thoughts??

That was going to be the name we used if we had a boy.
I love it.
It has been around a lot longer than that awful piece of trash book/movie, and will be around long after the hype of it fades.

I honestly don't think it's the kind of movie that is going to have that much staying power or influence on society that you will have to even worry about that a few months down the road.
It's not exactly Gone with the Wind.
I had to google who Dakota Johnson was in fact!

ITA. I like the name. I think some people may associate Christian with 50 shades, but that name has been around ALOT longer than those books. They're forgettable, but the name is really cute.
And no, I don't think people will associate Dakota with Dakota Johnson either.

I really underestimated the whole "gone with the wind" reference... probably because I never saw it, lol. if I had a dollar for every time someone has said to me "Oh, you must be a HUGE gone with the wind fan!"............
